A Mere Fame posted the fastest time ever at 220 yards after crossing the wire in :11.51 on Thursday at Los Alamitos.
Ridden by Rodrigo Aceves for trainer Adan Farias, A Mere Fame posted a 1 1/4 length win over the stakes placed Tinys Lil Sis on the way to bettering the world record by 7/100ths of a second.
AQHA will confirm A Mere Fame's clocking in order for it to officially become a world record. It's noteworthy that there was no wind during the running of this race.. Previously, La Tonita and Too Jittered To Fish shared the track record at Los Alamitos of :11.58.
Bred by Dorothy Mitchum, A Mere Fame is the fifth horse to set or equal a track record at Los Alamitos in 2007. The others to set new marks this year are: Carters Cartel, who broke Corona Chick's 350-yard record after winning the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity with a time of :17.17; Blues Girl Too, who equaled Ocean Runaway's 400-yard track record with a :19.30 effort in the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap; the stakes placed Runnin Ramped, who set the 300-yard track record of :15.08 on July 22; and Too Jittered To Fish, who shared the 220-yard track record following from April 21 until A Mere Fame's monster effort on Thursday night.
