| COURTESY OF STALLIONESEARCH.COM & LOS ALAMITOS.COM Los Alamitos Readies for Upcoming Equine Sale LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA—SEPTEMBER 17, 2007—The 3rd annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale is only three weeks away and activity around the sale grounds is picking up in anticipation for what should be another outstanding event. The Los Alamitos Equine Sale will begin on Friday, October 5 with the Francisco Gonsalez Dispersal Sale of 70-head of horses, which include stakes winning stallion Make It Anywhere (Hip #70), the 2-year-old Copa King (Hip #27), who is a two-time winner at Los Alamitos, plus six foals out of Terra Cotta Red, who is the dam of 2005 Champion of Champions runner-up Like Frankie And Me. The sale will continue on Saturday, October 6 with Hip #71 through Hip #351 and will conclude on Sunday, October 7 with Hip #352 through Hip #631. "From the moment the gavel hit after the last horse went through the sales ring last year, we've been thinking of ways to make this year's sale better for the buyers, breeders and horses," said Frank "Scoop" Vessels. "We have a strong catalog of horses and the overall quality of the horses gets better each year." A large percentage of the sale barns are already in place said Los Alamitos Facility Manager Frank Sherren. "The grass is looking great and everything is right on schedule. We've come up with a good plan for the shavings around the barn area, which we hope will be well received by everyone." In addition, the barn area at the sale will feature two additional veterinarians providing x-ray services. The sale ring area will once again feature two large toteboards, one in the walking ring area and one in the front of the sale ring. There will be two additional spotters available to assist bidders. One of the spotters will be assigned the walking ring area, located behind the sale ring. Additional TVs will be made available throughout the sale grounds area. The Equine Sale will also continue its commitment to offer great food and a variety of eating and drinking options. Los Alamitos Equine Sale is also pleased to welcome representatives from A Caballo magazine to this year s event. Headed by editor Alberto Gomez Gutierrez, A Caballo is the most respected Quarter Horse racing publication in Mexico. This will be A Caballo 's first ever visit to the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. Photo by Scott Martinez Make It Anywhere, Velvetins Among First Day Consignments CYPRESS, CA—OCTOBER 4, 2007—The third annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale, a three-day event, will kick off tomorrow, October 5. This year's catalog includes 631 entries. Friday's sale, beginning at 1:00 p.m (PDT), will consist of the Francisco Gonsalez's dispersal, hip number 1 through 70. Hip #70 is the stallion Make It Anywhere, a sire of several stakes winners and a half-brother to champion sire Separatist. Make It Anywhere stood at Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma following his retirement from racing. Velvetins, a two-year-old Make It Anywhere filly who will compete in the $484,000 PCQHRA Futurity(G1) on Saturday night will sell as hip #45 on Friday. The filly posted the second fastest qualifying time of :17.405 seconds in trials run at Los Alamitos Race Course on September 22. Also among the Gonsalez consignment is her dam, Velvet Meter, a stakes winning daughter of Meter Me Gone. The sale will resume on Saturday, October 6 at 9:30 a.m. with Hip #71 through #351. Hip #352 through 631 will enter the sale ring on Sunday, October 7 also beginning at 9:30 a.m. Twice As Grand, a half-brother to last year's Equine Sale high seller, Masters Call, is Hip #432. Twice As Grand is a Grand Slam (TB) colt out of the outstanding broodmare Check Her Twice. | Velvetins was sold before the sale and was therefore withdrawn. Abigal K. bought her and Jaime will remain training her. Make it Anywhere bought $230,000 but i'm not sure who bought him yet... | |
