BIG STARS PREPPING FOR RACING RETURNS
There have been some notable runners strutting their stuff in recent morning workouts at Los Alamitos. Let's start with the morning on April 25 when 2006 Kindergarten Futurity trial winner Check This Beduino posted the 350-yard bullet drill of :18.20... Diller A Dollar, winner of the 2005 Grade 1 Golden State Derby, prepared for the Vessels Maturity trials by posting an impressive turn and work of :12 flat on May 1.... On May 11, All American Futurity winner No Secrets Here posted a turn and work at 220 yards of :12.70 This was the first official workout of the year by the millionaire runner owned by Benny Rosset and Vessels Stallion Farm.
Three-time Los Alamitos Championship winner Catchmeinyourdreams posted a turn and work of :12.40 and Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes winner A Mere Splash drilled from the gate in :12.50 on May 15....On the following morning, He Storms, second in last year's PCQHRA Breeders Derby, did a 220-yard turn and work in :12.40 in preparation for the Vessels Maturity on May 16. Also on that morning, Choosy, a multiple Grade 1 futurity finalist last year, worked 13 flat while 2006 Ruidoso Derby runner-up Rousing Encore went :13.5. ...First Wicked Lady sizzled in a gate work, going 12 flat at 220 yards on May 17. Strawkins (:12.8 turn and work) and Dicey Dee (:17.90 turn and work) were also on the track the morning of May 17....May 18, PCQHRA Breeders Derby winner Ah Commotion did a 350-yard turn and work in :18.30. He is also eligible to the Vessels Maturity....On May 19, Wanta Dubloon and Sir Runaway Dash, the latter a brother to World Champion Wave Carver, were out on the track. Wanta Dubloon worked 220 yards handily in :12.60, while Sir Runaway Dash earned the bullet drill at 350 yards after covering the distance in :17.90.... Blazin Fire, winner of the Las Damas Handicap and a finalist in the Champion of Champions, posted a :12.40 turn and work at 220 yards on May 22. Volcom did a similar drill, his time being :12.90.
