Jessthelouisianagirl Faces Shazooms Doll In Kansas Futurity(G2)
KANSAS CITY, KS—OCTOBER 4, 2007— Jessthelouisianagirl, a filly the showed early promise at Remington Park this Spring, will be looking to earn her black-type when she goes to the post in Saturday night's Kansas Futurity(G2) at The Woodlands.
Racing for Nancy McCoy, the Mr Jess Perry filly just missed earning her black-type when she finished fourth in the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) on June 3. The Charley Hunt trainee easily won the first of three trials in a time of :18.097 seconds for the fastest qualifying time. She was bred by J.E. III, D.C. and C.T. Jumonville.
Tom Bradbury and Marvin Willhite’s Shazooms Doll has won five of seven starts including two impressive stakes wins at Arapahoe park for trainer John Hammes. The Shazoom daughter won the Cherry Creek Futurity (G3) for Colorado-breds and the Rocky Mountain Futurity (G3), each by more than 2 lengths.
She was supplemented at a cost of $50,000 to the All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs but finished seventh in her trial behind eventual All American Futurity winner Heartswideopen.
Shazooms Doll rebounded to finish a close second behind second-fastest qualifier First Down Lewie in their Kansas Futurity trial.
Dick and Curt Tobin’s First Down Lewie, a Sweet First Down gelding scored the mild upset in his trial over Shazooms Doll in :18.122 seconds. He came into the trial off a third-place effort in the Iowa Quarter Horse Sale Futurity (G3) for trainer Tony Jones.
