Jessthelouisianagirl Wins Grade 2 Kansas Futurity
KANSAS CITY, KS—OCTOBER 6, 2007—Jessthelouisianagirl earned her first stakes win on Saturday while scoring a ˝ length victory in the $92,536 Kansas Futurity(G2) at The Woodlands.
Racing for Nancy McCoy, the Mr Jess Perry filly earned $ $27,761 for her efforts. The Charley Hunt trainee covered the 350 yards in :17.913 seconds. The filly, a full sister to Champion Jess Louisiana Blue was bred by J.E. III, D.C. and C.T. Jumonville.
Ridden to victory by G.R. Carter, Jr., Jessthelouisianagirl showed promised earlier this year with a fourth place effort in the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) on June 3.
Dick and Curt Tobin’s First Down Lewie, a Sweet First Down gelding, who came into the race as he second fastest qualifier finished a length ahead of the rest of the field for second. He came into the trials off a third-place effort in the Iowa Quarter Horse Sale Futurity (G3) for trainer Tony Jones. Thomas Wade Byrd was aboard.
Classy Dashin, a Dashin Is Easy gelding owned and bred by Leo Butell finished third. Amber Blair saddled with Thomas Wellington up.
