LOL, I can totally believe it. The APHC is a pain in the rear to deal with. They don't exactly "make it happen" for their members like the AzQHA does.

I do actually have one AQHA mare now, just got her though and she needs some fitting up. I'm going to start out haltering her, but she's not a hard core halter horse. She's got a big ole hip on her though and now that she's fed up a little, she's got that filled out look to her. I'd like to eventually get her ROM in performance and show her in the performance halter, I think she'll kick some serious butt there.

I'm still involved with the quarter horse shows though, I'll be getting two year end awards and I'm hoping to show that new mare a little this year in halter, and start out in January with the halter, barrel racing, and pole bending.

This is her the day after I got her, she's got a lot more muscle and weight on her now:

I'm showing two paints, we'll be getting one year end award through them too. The new mare, the tobiano, I'm trying to get her ready for the reining classes, but will probably start out in 2011 with her since we can't qualify for any year end awards this year Smile Next year I'll be showing the smart chic olena colt in halter with both clubs! So we will be seeing you Wink

I am chiming in late on this one.. Fish HYPP hores do not always win and they don't all look like they carry the gene.. I have no problem owning one or breeding one of my NN mares to an NH stallion. fishing

There are far worse thing to deal with.. Such as ulcers, EPSSM, HERDA or GREB.. Or, in the paint world OLWS + to +. Not to mention colic, lameness and all the other things that happen to our horses.. horse

I do respect how people feel about this and don't try to change their minds. I have my opinion and they have theirs. I do what I like to do and hope others are doing what they enjoy... ily

Invest In Vital Signs, Passed away. Unknown cause

Would you breed to a horse that was positive for anything that you listed?

Im not trying to change anyone's mind. Not that I think would. I just cannot find a reason to take the chance for breeding to a carrier. Not when there are so many good horses that are not carriers of what has been listed.

not only would I not breed one of my mares to a sire with these traits I would seek out a horse with a guarantee to not pass them on! I 100% agree with you!

This is why AQHA prints it right on the papers now. I don't know if they print the HERDA or GREBs on there yet. It should be a need to know. But, inexperienced people still miss it.. scratch
