The Bono Jazz gelding suffered the injury in the trials to the 350-yard Governor's Cup. My Buddie will be sidelined for approximately six months but will be back to racing in 2008. "It's a possibility that he might not need surgery," said assistant trainer Cody Joiner. "We're in the process of getting opinions from several well respected surgeons to decide whether or not My Buddie will require surgery. "With shin fractures a lot has to do with the individual horse's bone density," Joiner added. "It s a common injury when a horse is as fast as My Buddie at such a young age." My Buddie won his debut by 4 1/4 lengths before coming back from a length deficit in the trials to win by a head in a time of :17.34. He is one of three undefeated horses that qualified to the Governor's Cup Futurity. Bikers Bono, who is three for three in his career, and Ought To Be Rapid, who is two for two, are scheduled to race in the Governor's Cup, which will be contested as the 12th of 13-races to be contested as part of Saturday's California Breeders Champions Night.
