Eyesa Lil Cuervo Tops Qualifiers To Ford Juvenile at Ruidoso Thursday


RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 19, 2007—The Mike Joiner-trained Eyesa Lil Cuervo may have found the right spot to gain her stakes credentials after racing to the fastest-qualifying time to the Grade 3, $63,180 Ford New Mexico Juvenile Challenge at Ruidoso Downs on Thursday afternoon.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from the seven 350-yard trials return for the August 5 finals.

The G.R. Carter Jr.-ridden Eyesa Lil Cuervo broke her maiden in her fourth career start when she won the fourth trial in :17.488. She won by three-quarters of a length over Chiseled Form. The Lil Bit Cuervo daughter had been facing stronger company as evidenced by her third-place effort in her previous start to West Texas Futurity winner Wild Six and Ruidoso Futurity third-place finisher Three Past Six in their Rainbow Futurity trial. Wild Six and Three Past Six each qualified for the Rainbow Futurity from that trial.

Eysea Lil Curevo ended up with the 11th fastest time in the Ruidoso Futurity trials after being bumped from the finals in the last trial of the day.

Cute Runaway won the first trial in :17.503 for the second-fastest qualifying time. It was the second-straight win for the Ramon Ronquillo-trained Illegal Runaway gelding. He broke his maiden two starts back in his fourth career start.
