OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JUNE 25, 2007—Average auction prices rose 39% Saturday, June 23rd during the Annual Heritage Place Summer Mixed Sale held in Oklahoma City.
The sale average of $5,525 was a 39% increase over the previous year. Seventh-five race-bred American Quarter Horses grossed $414,000, an 18.6% increase over last years total sale totals that saw 26 additional head find new homes.
Fourteen three-year-olds brought an average of $10,771 while 34 older horses averaged $3,385.
La Royale Eye Opener, a three-year-old Mr Eye Opener mare, was the high-seller at $33,000. Alan Gutierrez and Guillermo Valdivia purchased the winning mare who finished sixth in the Remington Park Futurity last season from Dan Moses of Wichita, Kansas. Bred by Larry and Michelle Rice, she is out of the Strawfly Special mare La Princessa Royale and is a half sister to stakes-winner Princessa Fame.
The second high-seller, Down N Different, a 3-year-old colt by First Down Dash, was also sold by Moses. Jose Espinosa bought the gray colt out of Grade 1 winner Daring Difference, a daughter of Victory Dash for $27,500. Bred by Vessels Stallion Farm and Joe Kirk Fulton, Down N Different has won one of five starts and earned $10,276.
Xtremely Illegal was the third highest seller at $22,500. The 3-year-old Mr Jess Perry mare was purchased by Vince Berland and has won one of seven starts and earned $3,410. Bred by Evans And Evans, she was consigned by Royal Vista Ranches for owners Vaughn Cook and Thomas Bradbury. Xtremely Illegal is out of the First Down Dash mare Almost Illegal Two, the dam of stakes winners Senor El Nino and Texas Trio.
