| Alright - We all know that we can be a LITTLE demanding of our mares...however, I for one tell my mare what I want from day one, ex: "Itsy, I'm serious now, I have no use for a little boy and if you give me a colt I'm going to just stick him right back in until you give me the filly I really want...and while you're at it, I would also really like her to be a bay with two white socks and a star-strip-snip combo, get to work or you get to go back where you came from!!!" I'm not so sure it works...but oh well... SO--- What do you WANT out of each of your mares (and a healthy/correct baby is a cop out answer, c'mon, we ALL want healthy babies...surely deep down you have a desire for that special little bugger)? Personally I WANT: "Itsy" -- FILLY -- bay with some white feet and some white on her adorable little face "Chicks" -- COLT -- Sorrel (chicks is grey but sorrels will sell better because they look nicer as yearlings so pullin for a sorrel with some chrome) 2 white legs and a blaze "Bunny" -- COLT -- DARK BROWN (almost black) with blaze, and 4 white legs and no...I'm not at all demanding and now that they are bred I can't jinx it...so I tell myself! | |

| KIDD - IF my mare is bred I want a cremello colt, that would make me a very very happy woman.

| KIDD & TARA- I tried the whole "if it's not right I'm pushing it back in" threat with my mare.... it didn't work I think she gave me the opposite just to spite me - hahahaha! Beefy - a COLORED bay filly.... or a red leopard Chesney - I bred sorrel to sorrel so I'm pretty sure I'm getting a sorrel but she's registered as a red roan, so maybe I'll get lucky and get a unique sorrel... but I'd prefer a colt since I probably won't end up keeping the baby.

| I'd just be happy if my mare had decided she wanted to have another foal. (But then I'd have wished for a bay filly with a star and no white feet, LOL!) |

| Kidd, I'd definitely have to say with Red, a filly - hopefully one that won't try to commit suicide all the danged time; with Cool, another colt... got to have me another little Scampsters. Dillon let me know real quick yesterday that Scamp was his. I told him flat, huh-uh, no, he's not... Mom, I can handle a stallion. Yeah, okay....you can hold Kid next time we breed. Trent got lucky this year, he actually did ... I looked up one time, and you could seriously see the white of his eyes. Gosh, Mom, he looks REAL BIG when he's doing his thing. Hoping to add another mare late this fall, plus Jazz will go in the broodmare band... and I don't give a rip what she has, but hurry up and get it here! HA! TripleJ, uh what's this: "10 shades darker"? | |

| Well, I don't have a baby coming next year, but my friend has bred her Arab mare and they are like family so I can latch on to that one. (my daughter showed this mare last year in 4H)
The mare is bay with white low socks. The stud is liver chestnut with socks and a blaze (gorgeous!). Her 2005 colt by the same stud is a carbon copy of the Mom- bay, no face white, oh but I think he has 3 socks instead of 2. So for next year's baby- we are hoping for the opposite- a liver chestnut filly with chrome! If it's a colt, they will probably sell it, so definitely hoping for a filly!!

| If I still have my gray mare next year, i want a palomino colt. No red babies. Heck, I'm not picky. I'll even take a palomino filly. | |

Depending on wether she is homozygous for grey or not, You have a 50/ 50 shot of that "pally colt" turning into a grey colt....

| For me....
Merikle- Buckskin Tobiano filly (easier to sell.... although I prefer her colts LOL) Taffy - Silver Grullo Tobiano Filly (hahahaha, i wish!) Gemyni - Palomino Tobiano Filly
I also plan to add 1 or 2 mares.. and put one down... LOL and I sold my other ones!

| Last night, me and my buddy up in Missouri were talking about this "fillies rule" business.... I tell ya, course a lot of the reason why I'm like I am, is because I hung around with her for so long; her and two other women who love studs, and she absolutely hates mares! I'm talking absolutely hates 'em! She hates geldings, too. She says the only honest horses there are out there are studs - and I totally have to agree with her. Those danged mares will get you killed. She refuses to ride a mare unless she's trying to help a friend; i.e., me previously. Kind of funny, really. I think it has a lot to do with our personalities, both of us are extremely aggressive, and well, a mare or a gelding is just sort of boring. Hush, TripleJ, I know what you're fixing to say! HA! | |

| 7Cs - I'll have to go with Triple J on this one I LOVE my FILLIES!!! All of my fillies are spunky, smart and have more heart and guts than ANY of my boys...I have no use to keep a stud around (all I see there is Trouble/Trouble/Trouble) so I prefer FILLIES!!! Garrett likes geldings...he got my gelding (2yo) last Oct to START training...we gelded Duckie in early Oct as well...his momma threw hormonally CHARGED babies (his big sister was convinced that she was a stud for about 9 months!!! It was EMBARASSING!!! She made mares at the TRACK break down ) Anyway, Duckie is the only "working" horse I like as a gelding, he's a DUDE - the others will quit and cheat! They are just lazy...my mare may not "show up" but she will let me know before I even get her in the trailer if it is going to be worth while! I do have some geldings but I'll swap em any day for a filly!!! Oh - and I also have to look at it from a worst case scenario stand point. With me, if a gelding gets significantly hurt, I've got to find a forever home for him and in this day and age, that is TOUGH - if a filly gets hurt, we breed well enough that even if she was slooooooow, someone would want to breed her for a different discipline (ie: barrels, roping, polo, etc)... When I get in a fight with a gelding I feel guilty later - hehe, when I get in a fight with one of my mares I feel completely justified ***edited because I can't spell and, shoot, I still can't spell*** | |

| I got what I wanted out of the mares that foaled already this year, so next year I would like red duns out of everyone bred to Pep, Maybe Whiskey could give us a filly. And another Gun filly from Freckles, which'll be guaranteed red. And from Sandy I would really like a buckskin or red dun filly. I tell her everyday, cause she's already rebred. And as to the mare/gelding/stud thing. I'd grab a mare first,a stud second, and a gelding if I had to. My mare Vamp has so much try and heart, and I find mares in general are better than geldings that way. | |
