Oklahoma’s Richest Futurity To Reach $1 Million Mark OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—AUGUST 28, 2007—Management of the Heritage Place Sale Company is not only renovating their facility, but also renovating the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) and the Heritage Place Derby (G1) with the assistance of Remington Park and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association.
For the first time since 1984, Oklahoma will offer a $1,000,000 est. race with the 2008 Heritage Place Futurity. In addition, the 2008 Heritage Place Derby should exceed its highest value in ten years with a $250,000 est. purse. Also in the spirit of renovation, the “berth” system for both races will be removed—making these races open to the world.
The $1,000,000 est. Heritage Place Futurity (G1) will offer $300,000 in added money and $10,000 in Breeder’s Awards. Trials will run May 9-10 at Remington Park with the finals running on June 1. The first nomination payment of $300 is due on October 15, 2007.
The $250,000 est. Heritage Place Derby (G1) will offer $75,000 in added money. Trials will run May 11 at Remington Park with the finals running on June 1. The first nomination payment of $200 is due on October 15, 2007.
Those who have been involved with the Heritage Place races have become accustomed to the berth system associated with these races. However, the management of Heritage Place are setting their sights on making the races the largest and richest in the country. With this in mind, they have eliminated the “berth” system.
By eliminating the “berth” system, any 2006 American Quarter Horse foal can be nominated to the Heritage Place Futurity, and any 2005 foal can be nominated to the Heritage Place Derby.
The Heritage Place Sale is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and will host its annual Quarter Horse Yearling Sale September 21-22, 2007. Heritage Place's 40 acres boasts a unique sale facility unmatched in the country, consisting of four and one half acres under one roof which includes a 1,000 seat air conditioned auditorium, club and restaurant, 640 stalls, and arena. In addition, there are 15 acres of lighted parking and a spacious outdoor arena with bleacher seating for day and night events.
