| Boy, that is a rough one. I have seen this happen before. I would let her know you will be picking the horse up. I would do that on my way out the door so you do not get charged with trespass or theft. If you have a signed lease agreement they could come after you for that.. Also, if you can get some paper work from the vet that will help. Sorry this happened to your horse.. | |

| I've got 3 other horses that are leased to 3 different families... 2 of them had to be put on DIETS over the past 2 months!!!!!!!!! I just don't see how someone can let it get this bad and not take DRASTIC measures to FIX it!!! The lease agreement states that the horse must be fed well and be provided adequate veterinary care...hmph... This is the filly before she left... Now you can see EVERY bone, stick a finger between each rib and she has NO muscle left!!! Thanks for your support! I just feel bad for the little girl...I feel like I never should have let her out of my sight!

| Ooweee, I'd be breathing fire, too. I've repo'd before, but not because of condition... but because they didn't finish paying... didn't bother me none, though. Well, let us know how it all plays out. I don't know if I would take it straight to your vet though as soon as you got it on board ... that way if something did happen, at least you have a note from your vet. | |

| I think I'm going to have to haul her over a couple of days. I am thinking 1-2 hrs is the most she will be able to handle in a trailer at a time. I'm taking the slants out and making her a box stall. I just don't want to stress her too much!
I am going to draw blood and get it to my vet before she even sees her... I'll check her teeth once I get her settled in a stall...I'm going to clorox everything before she gets there since I'm sure her imune system is GONE...

| Ditto what Shiela said. Pick her up and go straight to your vet. I would also draw up a "repo" letter and have her sign it if you can. Make sure to keep a copy for yourself. You get the bloodwork, etc done that day and IF someone trys to turn you in you will have your paperwork to back you up.
GOOD LUCK! | |

| Make sure to take digital pictures of her BEFORE you take her off the premises she is at now. MAKE sure the date is set on your camera for further reference. Take said horse to the vet as soon as you pick her up do NOT take her home unless the vet is coming out that day. Get signed documentation from the vet with the date and the condition she is in no less then 1 day after picking her up. Good luck PS call the humane society and have them come out and file a report also with them for your own protection. |

| Aww the poor girl. She is such a pretty girl, and deserves better. Everyone has given you great advice. Get lots of "evidence" so no one can turn around and bite you, even if you know the people. GOOD LUCK! You are doing a good thing, taking her back. | |

| UPDATE---
So, I talked to my vet to see how she wanted to do this... Vet said - Draw blood tomorrow but do NOT take the filly until I run a full panel on the blood and run a new coggins!!! She said the filly should not move until we make sure she doesn't have something that would require a quarantine...
Glad I talked to the vet first....SO... Tomorrow I get to take pictures, draw blood, give the first dose of a Panacure Powerpak (leave the rest for the girl to give, which she has agreed to do), and drop of a new feed (Wendland's One 'N Only)...Once the blood comes back I get to pick up my baby!!!

| Hehe, fortunately I hadn't told her I was picking the filly up...so I was able to delay the taking her away speech which is good because I need to give that about 6 hours before I get my baby back!!!
I think I'll be able to pick her up without a problem though...I'm trying to be very diplomatic and not let my fiancee within 200 miles of the filly! Garrett would have heads rolling and there would be a river of blood flowing to the gulf!
I just want my filly back without too many fireworks! I'll save the fire and brimstone for after I have her safely home!

| That is sad, benn there about killed someone over it and if I see him he better set his feet to running. You said you left the wormer with this person who did this to her? If she didn't feed her right and she looks like this how can you believe she will give her the wormer? |

| I don't really have an option...I can't stay with the filly until her blood work gets back...and I can't pick her up until the blood work comes back!
I've got the blood in my fridge and I'm taking it to my vet tomorrow morning. I should have the initial review back by Wednesday...
The girl said she would de-worm her and I can only hope she does! I do know I gave her a solid dose today and I'll be back to see her either Monday or Wed of next week depending on my work schedule...She will be put on a full powerpak once I pick her up....Right now I'm just trying to put a band aid on a gash!

| Yeh...I just can't pick her up until we're sure she doesn't have something bad...don't want to infect any other horses...
My vet is just making sure all of the bases are covered and we don't get any of the other horses sick...
She was out on a green pasture when she dropped all of the weight...Sooooooo, thus the blood work!

| Wow - if those pics were of her looking "some better," I'd sure hate to have seen her at her worst! Boy, I'd be some kind of pi$$ed off! That is simply inexcusable - hope you get good results on your bloodwork so you can pick her up ASAP and get her on the road to recovery!! It's sure a lot harder to put weight back on than take it off. Sorry you're having to go through all this. |

| Ohhh, restraint has not been easy....Restraint until my baby girl is IN the TRAILER on her way HOME!!!
My vet said I need MORE blood - ugh...some how my fiancee only gave me two different colors of vials instead of all three! Hmph...I feel like a moron for not noticing while I was pulling blood...oh well...now i've got green so I'll get that on Wednesday.....it is looking like it will be the 9th before I can get her just because I didn't get ALL of the RIGHT blood....
On a positive note...I have a place to put her where the lady handles rescue horses (she is wonderful!!!)...so, that is good at least! Now it is just waiting on the rest of the blood to come back! Hmph!!!!!!!
