Whos Next!

Time to pick on someone else now.. Whos next for foaling, give us up dates.

Misty's not due until May and it won't be my foal, but I'm sure I can rustle up a picture when it arrives.

We are at 321 (I think)...

We lost one last week though - well, my inlaws did - they have a YAHOO as a vet - tried to do surgery on a ruptured bladder (after he MISSED it)...baby died under the knife...ughhhhhh

SOOOO....On a happier note - WE should have a foal at the end of February!!!

OH NO!!!!!!!!!! How sad. Oh, I hate that for them.

Looks like late Feb to early March for the one by Tommy. Then early April for the mare I had out on a breed lease who came back in foal to Finacialinstatution. UGH.. These are both too late for me. I like em on the ground in early Jan.

Sorry about the loose of the foal. The one we had last year out of the mare that was not in foal died from ruptured bladder. Had the vet diagnosed that one right we would have put her down rather then go through what we did with her and all the money that was spent.. SAD..

Thats a bummer about the foal. But everyone get pics up right away. I dont think I can drink anymore while waiting for them.
I just got home from the Sun Circuit and the equine affair in CA. I had a blast and bought to much stuff that I didnt need. Then come home to my husband being out of a job. But he will find another soon I hope.
Cant wait to see all these babies!!

Is he in construction? Dang, sorry to hear about that. Shoot! My husband works construction, we have been lucky, he was been helping rebuild a hospital for 2 years. Looks like it will another 12 months at least. He loves working out of the weather. had to push him to get his plumbing lic. and boy has it paid off!

I didnt even take a camera. My hubby works in the oil field. Once he has a job I'll be ready to drink again.

Just moved my black mare to the foaling stall that has the all night light in it so I can keep an eye on her. She is making a nice little bag right now. The light does not stay on until I know we are in the last day or two... I got my pink blanket warmed up..

Hanging the pink blanket did not work last year. But, remember the filly we got that was not supposed to be. Then she died a week later.. This year, they are all clean and ready.. But, I will hang my traditional green Big D. I think this mare is due for a filly this year anyway.. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX your fingers..

Well - I hope so - but the dang mare went 352 last year - so who knows - she is ornery!!!

We are leaving town this weekend - so I'm doing a milk test on Friday before we go just for "peace of mind" - HA HA HA!

April's bag is getting bigger everyday.. Not ready yet though.. She is startling to really slow down and even get off her feet for while. I will see if her utters are starting to fill today when I go out to the barn. Her bag is about twice as big as it was on Tuesday. I have no idea how long she carried her foals.

Hummmmmm We are waiting Little Miss Thing! Tell her to get on the ball. PS Dont forget your camera. You wont believe how much TROUBLE YOU WILL GET IN IF YOU DONT COME UP WITH AT LEAST ONE PICTURE! I am guilt ridden from all the drunks I created!

I know. The problem I have is my camera does not work in my barn and it might be a few days before I can get it outside. We have that stinking white stuff on the ground AGAIN....URGH

Mine's pH was still really high last night when I did a test for "base" - then tomorrow I'll take another one right before we leave...

I do not use those milk testing kits. I go by what the mare is showing. I have been told they do not work anyway. I was also told those test strips you use on water work better..

So, with all that said... Let just get while we wait since Mother nature will do what ever she wants to do anyway.. One thing I do know, when you see a pearl on the end of the utter you better be ready for the big moment.. The pearl is much larger then the little pin size wax you see. Another clue is the drip marks on their hind legs.. So, lets get going. I am having Vodka Sunrise..

I'm using the water test strips

So far everything looks good for me (low calc and high pH)...

She is BIG - but still looks like she can wait another 2 wks...

This was just to make my hubby feel bettter about leaving her for the weekend - there is a guy watching her - but he isn't "experienced" per-se - granted...the mare IS experienced - so I'm not too concerned...give me a week and I'll start being REALLY nervous

This weekend should be fun though! We're going to the San Antonio stock show & rodeo!!!! YAY!!! Ranch gelding show/sale should be interesting!!!

We cancel plans when it's that close.. Lonnie went to town and picked up our New Years eve dinner one year because we knew we were very close. Ate dinner, watched the camera's and fell to sleep.. Lonnie woke me up around 5ish am and told me I better get out and take care of the baby in the barn.. She had just foaled.. New Years day around 4:30am. He was still wet.. How is that for timming on the early foal..
