First Prize Perry to Hart Farms, Other Stallion Movements Announced
KAPLAN, LA—SEPTEMBER 9, 2007—First Prize Perry, a grade 1 stakes-placed earner of $241,226 out of the 2006 AQHA Broodmare of the Year, will become the leading money earning son of Mr Jess Perry to stand at stud in the Louisiana.
Purchased by a Chad Hart, the three-year-old is out of First Prize Dash, last year's Broodmare of the Year and a full sister to All-Time Leading Sire First Down Dash, from the partnership of Mennan, Amestory and Stanley. Hart is owner of Hart Farms near Kaplan, LA.
First Prize Perry is a full-brother to two grade 1 stakes winning fillies, First Carolina ($404,775, to 3, 2007) and First Prize Robin ($295,147 at 2), and a half-brother to another grade 1 stakes winner and stakes-producer Fast First Prize ($244,929), and grade 2 stakes winner Heza Fast Dash ($136,123). Heza Fast Dash, a multiple stakes sire, was the #2 First Year Sire in the nation in 2006
“If you look at all the other sons of Mr Jess Perry, this is probably the most brilliant one in terms of breeding and race record,” said Hart. “In the commercial market, that is very important. He is by a sire of sires and from the immediate family of the all-time leading sire line.”
The sorrel colt has won or placed in seven of eight career starts including a second place finish in last years $1,000,000 Texas Classic Futurity(G1) by a neck to Valiant Hero.
First Prize Perry is expected to continue racing this fall before beginning stallion duty in 2008. He will join Big Time Favorite, Dashin Bye and Achievement at Hart Farms near Kaplan. His fee will be announced at a later date.
In other stallion news, multiple stakes sire Corona Cocktail also owned by Hart, will stand the 2008 season at Pleasure Time Farm in Alexandria, LA.
