MR JESS PERRY COLT TOPS SECOND NIGHT OF RUIDOSO SELECT SALE


September 2, 2007 – Rollingintheclover, a Mr Jess Perry colt and half brother to All American Futurity (G1) fastest qualifier Heartswideopen, sold for $415,000 to top the second night of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale on Saturday.


Bred and consigned by Kirk Goodfellow of Minden, Texas, Rollingintheclover was acquired by Chad Hart of Royston, Georgia. The colt is one of 19 registered foals produced by Dashing Phoebe, a two-time champion and Grade 1-winning daughter of world champion Dash For Cash. The mare has foaled four stakes winners from 14 starters, including 1995 champion aged mare Special Phoebe.


Also on Saturday, Beyond The Smiles, a Mr Jess Perry filly bred and consigned by Jumonville Farms at Ventress, Louisiana, was acquired for $280,000 by an ownership syndicate. The filly is one of 13 registered foals produced by the winning and stakes-placed Louisiana Slew (TB) mare The Louisiana Girl, and she is a full sister to 2002 champion aged stallion Jess Louisiana Blue.


Beyond The Smiles’ second dam, Little Blue Sheep, won 14 stakes from 1974-78 and was the sport’s champion aged mare in 1977 and ’78.

I guess we could call this the Mr Jess Perry-Corona Cartel sale. Wow, talk about dominant sires. Lots of good blooded babies to watch for next year but they'll have to go some to beat those fantastic two fillies this year. WHOOOOSH !!!
