| When Janie was getting shod, I was messing with her mouth, and look what I found. She has a CAVITY in her bottom tooth! I took a picture of it, but it didn't turn out so well. There is an actual hole in her tooth, about the size of a pencil eraser. Her gums look fine though, so we're just going to have the vet look at it the next time she's out. It's a baby tooth so it'll fall out next year anyway, but I guess we might have to pull it if it gets worse! | |

| WOW! Didn't know that they could actually get a cavity like that! At least it's a baby tooth! | |

| I had never in my life heard of a horse with a cavity, and neither had anyone else at the barn! Leave it to Janie, LOL! | |

| That looks nasty. Hopefully it will fall out before it has a chance to do some damage like to the gums, or maybe the tooth under it could become infected as well. But your vet should be able to tell you if it's something to worry about, and it's not that big a deal if you had to pull it. Horses are such a pain in the rear!! I wonder sometmes why we put up with them and their constant care and worry and expense. | |

| Just a quick little note, keep watching it and see if it starts to affect the gum at all, even a mild discoloration. A really good friend's horse had a cavity, which actually ended up abcessing, and the horse eventually had to be put down because it began to eat away at his entire mouth. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but I know you're a good mom, so just watch out for it. But jeeze, honestly, you guys pumping her full of all that candy... thought you would have known better *tisk tisk* lol. | |

| LOL, Kay, Joe was FREAKING OUT!!! He thought if we had to pull the tooth, she would have to go in to the U of I vet clinic and have some big procedure!! I was like ummm...no...they do it right there in her stall. He was horrified, LOL!!!! Jeez, I'm glad he wasn't there when she got her teeth floated! | |
