Is it FRIDAY YET? / curse of 2007

Now folks I need prayers or something. 4:00 this morning, a big dog is barking outside my bedroom window. Barking and Barking, Its the neighbors boxer, he has our old barn cat up a tree. I make him go home. Ole Momma cat comes up on the porch and gets the rocker as to say, it took you long enough!
5:30 the alarm goes off, Kirt goes out to put 2 horses up, a mare we have for sale, and our yearling gelding.
6:00 He says Kay, I think Bells hurt, Our old Aussie. Shes 11. He took the halter off the colt before he put him in the stall, the colt jerked away and was off and running. We had moved her up under a shade tree on a chain while we are gone during the day, since it had turned off so hot, He gets tangled up in the chain. With his hind leg. It starts to hurt him, he takes off, Now has broken the chain, dragging Bell who is still on the chain. About that time Kirt says she goes about 6 feet in the air. the chain is lose so is poor Bell. Kirt catches the horse. She drags herself up to the shade tree.
6:30 Im calling the vet. ITS BROKE BROKE! Grinds when you move it, you can feel the tip under the skin and she is bleeding. The vet wont answer.
I get her in the house. She is laying on a sheet, In the Air, a fan blowing on her, a pillow and towell holding her leg in place with packing on the wound.
7:00 Called the vet, No answer, Bells asleep and loves the fan
7:30 The Vet Answers! Yeah!
8:00 on our way, Bell Sticks her nose outside the heat, Nope goes back inside lays down in front of the fan. OK, Lets go Ole girl. Gets in the car.
15 mins later were at the vets office, she get out, threatens the vets dog, that their dog, was getting to close to their Little Boy.
8:30 the vet checks her over, she says how old is she, 11. Oh, Lets talk dollars. At least 600.00 Least. She may live another year to 4 years. but she is in great shape for her age. Do you want to spend this much money on her, (Called a vet in town, 1200.00 to 1500.00) My husband says its his fault for letting him get lose and he doesnt want her to pay for his mistake)
The vet knocks her out, my husband goes outside and plays with the 2 year old little boy, the Vet and I X-Ray her, Give her a body clip, shave the area for surgery, And find where the bone has already cut threw the skin.
Sugery is put on hold for 2 days to allow the bleeding to stop and the bone to heal some to prevent as much bleed out during surgery. I will assist to help keep the cost down some, and get this Kirt is Going to babysit!

So, Ive lost my Stallion, the colt is cut, just as I have someone Interested in him and our ole buddy is hurt.

You have had a rough stretch lately. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, please keep us posted on how Bell is doing.

Holee cow Triple J, things are not going your way here lately. All of us on here will be praying for your puppy. Remember God doesn't put anything on your plate you can't handle although at times I stand outside, look up at the sky and ask him to lighten up for a while. We're with you girl.......

Good grief, I think this year has just been awful for EVERYONE! Hope she and the colt are feeling better soon!

So sorry to hear about all this...hopefully, you can keep the costs down on getting your dog back in good health, and you've got the stuff there to take care of the colt... criminey - suicidal danged things....

Well, I'll add to the screwed up day here... went down to feed, Scamp done wiggled himself up under the gate again, whelped the living crap out of his neck, messed up his back foot again, that we just got healed.

Now, I ask you, do horses have any freaking common sense? My Lord!!!!!

well its FRIDAY.. The colt is swelled up like a balloon. Got an email they want to see him Sunday. Maybe Next Sunday! Grrrrrrrrr

Belle has surgery Saturday.

Thoughts and prayers to Belle!! If she were up here, she could get some blood from Otis for her surgery. Otis is a blood donor at the vet clinic.

My red heeler, Shelby, had to have her leg amputated last October...
She is doing FABULOUSLY! I sincerely hope that Belle makes a wonderful recovery and is up and around in no time!!!!

Surgery went well. 9 inch Pin, to keep the bone in place. I screwed it in as the vet held the bone togather. Several stitches later, she was back to gather again. Hopefully it will all hold togather. We have to carry her in and out as she is not allowed to do stairs. She loves the AC! She loves the can dog food that her meds are hide in! About a month of packing her in and out of the house. Then the pin will be removed in about 3 months. Hopefully all will go well... Crossing fingers.

Now I have to call the person interested in my pleasure colt. Ummmm Lets see his hock is like triple the size it normally is. Theres hair missing on all four corners and Hes lame.

She says . No problem. Just let her know when he is sound. She saw me show him when he was a foal and really liked him.. She doesnt care that the hair is gone, she said it will grow back! Wow, how many prospective buyers would say that!

I'm so glad the surgery went well TripleJ, I'm sure you're colt will be fine with a little healing time. Have you tried walking him around with his leg wrapped in a polo? Sometimes when one of my babies gets banged up and there's swelling, I'll wrap them, and the heat from the polo helps the swelling go down. Just a thought? You have a very nice and understanding buyer lined up, I hope everything goes well with the future purchase

Wow Kay, you've been going through it. So sorry to hear about all that. My prayers are with your dog and your colt.

Its the hock, a really hard place to wrap, I do have a hock sweat, Its not big enough. So its Hosing, and DMSO. Works great for those hard to sweat places. But dont wrap over it, its to hot and will blister. Thanks for the thought.

so for everyone under the curse of 2007 because it really has been one of those years hasn't it.... can't think of anyone who has escaped this darn mess... how are you all holding up??? Belle, the colt... etc. etc. etc..... and from the other side of the ocean how is your girl over there???

Yep, we've been bit with it too. Zane my hubby's good grey horse suddenly went lame in March and has been very lame even at the walk ever since. We've had him to two lameness vets, and both said that the Impar and Suspensory spurs, he has, should not make him lame. Everything else in his foot looks perftect. They both blocked and re-blocked to make sure that there wasn't something else going on and it's definitely in his heel. I was beginning to think he was going to be a pasture ornament, but we've been doing shockwave therapy and it seems to be working, he was sound at the trot on Saturday. He goes back to the vet next Monday for X-rays to see if the spurs have remodeled. Hopefully it will be good news.

Those are some tuff times.. I am glad to hear Bell is coming along.. And, the colt will be fine.. Keep your chin up and things will come back together..

I really think that if I wouldn't have found God in my life over the last 12 months, there's no way I would have made it through. I'm telling ya, I think we all need to start over in 2008, it's comin' up here pretty quick. Seems like every time one of us jumps a hurdle, someone else is stuck in the mud. I'm just glad I have a nice bunch of ladies to talk to about it:cheers:

:pray: Well not only will we be freinds here but even after we are gone from this ole earth! Congrats on the most important moment in you life. Have to admitt its a great comfort! Boy at times like this I sure do a bunch of talking to the man upstairs!
