Louisiana Downs Hosts Five $100,000 QH Champions Day Stakes Saturday

SHREVEPORT, LA—JULY 19, 2007—Louisiana Downs will play host to 'Champions Day'—13 races, eight Thoroughbred and five Quarter Horse—worth $1.3 million dollars, for Louisiana-Breds on Saturday. First post time is set for 1:25 p.m. (CDT).
The five Quarter Horses races to be contested for $100,000 each are the Champions Day Quarter Horse Futurity for 2-Year-Olds; Champions Day Quarter Horse Derby for 3-Year-Old Colts & Geldings; Champions Day Quarter Horse Oaks for 3-Year-Old Fillies; Champions Day Quarter Horse Distaff for Fillies & Mares 4-Year-Olds & Up and Champions Day Quarter Horse Maturity for Colts & Gelding 4-Year-Olds and Up.

Heading up the field for the $100,000 Champions Day Quarter Horse Futurity at 350 yards will be Senor Seabolt who comes off a victory just seven days ago in the restricted Grade I $431,950 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta Downs.

The Heza Fast Dash gelding has won four of four starts and earned $223,478 for owner Stacey Moak. He is trained by Danny Joe Eldridge and will have regular rider Alfonso Lujan aboard.

Senor Seabolt will face Mardi Gras Futurity winner Toastin To Memory who has earned $127,479 this season. The Toast to Dash gelding is owned by Bill & Julie Pilgrim and Ted Abrams, Jr. Heath Taylor trains with Gilbert Ortiz in the irons.

Also in the talented field of two-year-olds will be Cute N Shiny, a First To Shine filly who has earned $48,596 this season for owner J.R. Stevens, III and Paul Rigdon. She finished fourth in the Mardi Gras and Louisiana Lassie Futurity this season.

Multiple stakes winner of $222,343, Dynomax will face a field of 12 in the $100,000 Champions Day Quarter Horse Derby at 350 yards. Owned by Bobby Barnett and Carol Birdwell, the Toast to Dash gelding finished second by a nose in his last effort on July 21.

Bred by Charlie Bordelon, Dyonmax is hoping to return to a form that saw him win three straight races last year including in the 2006 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta.

Hell Yea Iam Fast comes into the race off a track record one length win at Delta Downs on July 1st when he went 250 yards in :12.831 seconds. The Heza Fast Dash colt owned by R and R Racing has won three of five lifetime starts and will be making his first stakes appearance.

Angelas Toast will be looking to return to form in the $100,000 Champions Day Quarter Horse Maturity at 400 yards. The Toast to Dash gelding owned by Candy Villarreal had rattled off nine consecutive wins before finishing second in the Mr Jess Perry Stakes on June 16 at Delta Downs.

Kittys Fast Dash will make her first appearance since finishing off the board on December 9 in the Louisiana Champions Day at the Fair Grounds. The Heza Fast Dash filly has won five of 11 lifetime starts for Bill & Julie Pilgrim and earned $127,428. She completed in several futurities as a two-year-old including winning the Louisiana Juvenile Stakes at Delta Downs.

Facing Kittys Fast Dash will be Streakin Patch who won the Francis Carr Distaff at Manor Downs on April 15. The Streakin Jewell filly is owned by Eusevio Huitron and Jaime Torres and has won five of 15 starts with earnings of $60,141.

Shiney Beduino, a untested stakes runner, comes into the $100,000 Champions Day Quarter Horse Distaff Stakes as the only winner in her last start. Contested at 400 yards, the First To Shine filly won a 350 yard allowance race by ½ length at Delta on June 17.

Haileighs Reeds Dash, a Reeds Dash filly owned by Ceburn L. Baker, Jr., leads all money earners with $161,153. Also trained by Baker the filly was third in the Mothers Day Stakes at Delta Downs on May 2nd.
