Love it! Looks like he could be the next reining addition. How tall is he now?

Aww, thanks Smile Some days he's a reiner, other days he's a halter horse, then some days he does western pleasure. lol! He sure can slide though affraid Scares the crap out of me when he heads for a fence. Such a stinker lol. Sure is a big improvement from when we first got him and he was soooo stiff from being in that stall.... He loves his turn out time now. He's sticking at 15.2 & 1/2 at the wither right now. I think he'll get to about 16.2 really. His dam grew until she was four and ended up at 16.3hh. Just a slow maturing line, you wouldn't believe she was the same horse if you saw her at two and then at four.

He seems to be picking up. cheering I would work on his neck though. Looks a bit heavy and when they have a heavy neck it makes it look shorter. I have this problem at home.. Rolling Eyes Course, that's only if you are want him to halter....

Thanks Bluejay Smile I just started back on his neck, before, he was so darn skinny there wasn't much point to sweating it cause he was already so tiny. I know you're really good w/ the sweating stuff, can you tell me what you use to sweat them when you're not working them???

I still want him to put on a few more pounds before I start working him. Right now he gets turned out every other day and is pretty lazy even then.

I am serious, I wanted to pull out my hair with him. I kept telling him, I know there's a halter horse in there somewhere LOL. But, his previous owner warned me, I was going to have to be patient. He is finally filling out and getting that "pop". I figure somewhere in his three year old year he should be really good to go. His momma at two had less of a hip than he does now! Then at four, she looked like this:

She ended up with her PtHA world championship and beat horses that went on to win APHA world championships. Also ended up with 98 open APHA halter points, 20 youth halter points with Trent Finkenbinder, and 42 ammy. His sire is Mighty Awesome. He should be good to go, it's all "there" it's just hiding right now Wink HAHA!

I use the neat neck by World Champion. It will never burn them, they sweat when they are doing nothing and you can just sponge it off. cheers

This is great in the winter.. You could just tie him, apply the neat neck, add all your sweating stuff, hay bag and let him stand there head up for at least an hour. Then, sponge it off real good and dry him. Also, keep the throat latch wrapped with a sweat and neck warmer every night if you have one. Works great and no fuss no muss.. cheering

Thanks so much, I knew it was something like that. Sorry it took me so long to get back, we've been moving for the last two weeks and been kinda crazy. I actually have some of that neat neck, how much do you really have to use?

Not that much. Just want to make sure he is wet with it and a little heavier on the bad spots.. I put it in my hand and rub (the way the hair grows).. And, you do not have to cover it every where. You will have to find out how much his neck will take..Basketball

There are many home remidies. The problem with these is they can burn and you need to hose them off good and make sure you hose where ever that sweat goes. You need hose all that sweat anyway. Make sure you get if off between the front legs where the wrinkles are in the pits.. They will get fungus if you don't. cheers
