GOTTA GET MAKES QUICK RETURN

September 27, 2007 – Nobody will ever be able to accuse trainer Fred Danley of ducking horses with his champion aged gelding Gotta Get because this 5-year-old gelding is making his second start in as many weekends.

The Gordon Cox- and Rita Danley-owned gelding starts in Sunday’s $50,000 New Mexico Breeders Championship (RG3) at The Downs at Albuquerque just eight days after finishing a close fifth in the $64,000 James Issac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

Gotta Get (Celedon-Chicory Glass by Raise Your Glass (TB)) finished fifth in the Hobbs, but it was a race in which the top six finishers were separated by just two heads and three noses. Gotta Get was just a neck behind winner Look For Wranglers.

He earned his championship when he won each of his seven 2006 starts and every one of those victories was in stakes company. He secured his championship with his win in the $400,000 The Championship at Sunland Park (G1), his final 2006 start.

Gotta Get counts two stakes wins this year among his four wins from seven starts.

David Moreno’s Niks Know Know (Now I Know-Dont Leave Me Out by Megaforce) might be the sharp horse ready to race with Gotta Get. The sophomore gelding from the Alberto Amparan stable was second in the Animas Handicap (G3) in July and then came back on September 3 to win an allowance race at The Downs at Albuquerque by daylight.

He has three wins and two seconds from his latest five starts but has not faced the level of competition that Gotta Get has faced throughout his championship run.

Dashing Ta Fame (Dash Ta Fame-Daisy If I Do It by Chicks Beduino) was a close second to Buckshot Delight in the La Mariposa Stakes (G3) two starts back, but like Niks Know Know, did not face a horse the caliber of Gotta Get.
