LOS ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE GRADUATES IN THE ED BURKE MILLION FUTURITY TRIALS







TRIAL 1:



NOLAN RILEY
- A $12,500 purchase, Nolan Riley is an Oklahoma-bred gelding sired by Royal Shake Em out of dam Yikes Aromba. Yikes Aromba won 10 races and earned $40,823. Royal Shakem Em captured nine races in his career, including the Grade 1 Sam Houston Futurity.



TRIAL 2:



KEENS CAT
- A $50,000 purchase, Keens Cat is a California-bred filly. Her dam, Keens Dream, never raced but is the sister of Inthetwinkleofaneye, a graded stakes winner who earned $136,994. Keens Dream is also the dam of Dreams Can Fly, who has won three races in 21 starts and was third in the Grade 3 Seal Beach Handicap in 2005. Sire Panther Mountain was the 2003 AQHA Champion Aged Stallion after winning the MBNA Challenge Championship.



FORGIVE HIM - Forgive Him, a California-bred filly, was entered in the Los Alamitos Equine Sale but was not sold. Her dam, Making Up, won five races, finished second in the Grade 2 Miss Princess Handicap and earned $48,897. Making Up is also the dam of stakes-winner Weeps. Pritzi Dash, the sire of Forgive Him, won nine stakes races.



TRIAL 3:



TALES OF GLORY
- A $17,000 purchase, Tales of Glory is a California-bred gelding whose dam, Fly For Diamonds, was unplaced in three starts but went on to be the dam of Corona Clique, the fastest qualifier and fourth-place finisher of the 2003 Grade 1 Kindergarten Futurity. Tales of Glory's sire, Hawkinson, won nine races, including the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Championship, and was second in the Champion of Champions.



RAMBLIN ON DOWN - A California-bred colt, Ramblin On Down was bought for $75,000. His 23-year-old dam, Kiptys Kisses, is the dam of 10 winners, including two-time Grade 1 Los Alamitos Invitational Championship winner and $750,987 earner Heza Ramblin Man. Former champion Takin On The Cash sires Ramblin On Down.



TRIAL 5:



CATCHMEONTHEBACKSIDE
- Regally-bred Catchmeonthebackside, a Texas-bred colt, was the second-highest purchase at the 2006 Los Alamitos Equine Sale at $300,000. His dam, Lizas Mystique, is the dam of former champion Catchmeinyourdreams, who won the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Invitational Championship an unprecedented three times and also captured the Grade 1 MBNA Challenge Championship in 2005. Catchmeonthebackside's sire is former world champion First Down Dash.



MASTERS CALL - Masters Call was the highest purchase at the 2006 Los Alamitos Equine Sale at $485,000. His Thoroughbred sire Hennessy was a Grade 1 winner himself and the sire Grade 1-winning Thoroughbreds in the United States, Australia and Japan, including Eclipse Award winner Johannesburg. As a Quarter Horse sire, Hennessy has produced Check Him Out, the 2001 Grade 1 Ed Burke Futurity and 2002 Grade 1 Golden State Derby winner. Masters Call, a Kentucky-bred colt, and Check Him Out are out of dam Check Her Twice, the winner of the Grade 1 Golden State Futurity in 1992.



EYESA FLYER - Eyesa Flyer, a California-bred colt, was bought for $13,000. He is the first foal out of dam Inthetwinkleofaneye, who won 10 races, including two Grade 3 contests, and earned $136,994. Eyesa Flyer is sired by Strawfly Special, who also sired two-time world champion Tailor Fit and All America Futurity winner Streakin Flyer.



TRIAL 6:



KIDDY UP
- The fourth-highest purchase at the 2006 Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Kiddy Up was bought for $160,000. An Oklahoma-bred colt, Kiddy Up is sired by Corona Cartel out of dam Miss Racy Vike. Miss Racy Vike won 10 races, including the Grade 1 Las Damas Handicap and Grade 1 Remington Park Championship, and earned $263,661 in her career. She is the dam of graded stakes winner Miss Racy Eyes and Grade 1 stakes-placed Vikes Iota. She is also the grand-dam of Grade 1 winner Volcom. Kiddy Up's sire, Corona Cartel, is the sire of former AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Teller Cartel.



TRIAL 7:



AS SHE FIRE
- A $42,000 buy, As She Fire is a Louisiana-bred filly sired by Walk Thru Fire out of dam Easy As She Goes. Easy As She Goes won three races and $8,898 in her career and has gone on to be the dam of three starters, including a Grade 2 futurity finalist in New Mexico. Walk Thru Fire is the sire of former champion Higher Fire.



HAWKINSON ACE - A $41,000 purchase, Arizona-bred colt Hawkinson Ace is sired by Hawkinson out of dam Merry For Cash. Merry For Cash won five races and $27,097 in her career and has gone on to be the dam of 10 winners, including Grade 1 Rainbow Derby winner A Streak Of Cash. Merry For Cash is also the grand-dam of 2002 AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old AB What A Runner. Hawkinson is the sire of Grade 1 winners Strawkins and Starlet Hawk.



TRIAL 9:



JESS MY MOON
- Jess My Moon, a California-bred colt, was bought for $55,000. His dam, Your First Moon, won the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Million Futurity and was the AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Filly and AQHA Champion 3-Year-Old Filly with earnings of $750,726. Sire Mr Jess Perry, a former champion himself, has sired champions Fredricksburg and Jess Louisiana Blue.



TRIAL 10:



FIRST ICY MORN
- A full brother to former Ed Burke Futurity finalist First Down Morn, First Icy Morn is a Texas-bred colt who was purchased for $210,000, the third-highest price at the 2006 Los Alamitos Equine Sale. First Icy Morn is the son of prolific sire First Down Dash and Thoroughbred dam Icy Morn. Icy Morn won 20 races in her career and has gone on to be the dam of three Thoroughbred winners and two Quarter Horse winners.



DASHING FINISH
- A $17,000 purchase, Dashing Finish is a Texas-bred filly sired by Separatist out of dam Dashing Folly. Dashing Folly captured the Grade 1 Champion of Champions, the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Derby and the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity and was the 1996 AQHA World Champion. She has gone on to be the dam of three winners. She is also the grand-dam of Grade 1 stakes winner PYC Paint Your Wagon. Sire Separatist was a former champion himself and is the sire of former world champion DM Shicago.



NO MOON ON THE RISE - Bought for $85,000, No Moon On The Rise is a California-bred filly sired by First Down Dash out of dam Moon Arisen. She is the full sister to 2001 AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Your First Moon, who won the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Million Futurity. She is also the full sister to Sunset Dash, who record third-place finishes in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity and the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Million Futurity.



TRICKY WAYS - Tricky Ways, a California-bred colt sired by Separatist out of dam Bebe La Rue, was bought for $28,000. Bebe La Rue won four races and earned $32,727 in her career. She won the Grade 3 Aurora Derby and was a finalist in Arapahoe Park's Grade 2 Mile High Derby.



TRIAL 11:



TOBY DASHER
- A California-bred colt sired by Fishers Dash out of dam Flare For Toby, Toby Dasher was bought for $27,000. Flare For Toby won 12 races in her career, including the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap twice and the Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap. She has gone on to produce four winners, including La Primera Del Ano Derby finalists Grateful Heart and Go With Flare. Fishers Dash has sired champions Dashing Knud and Hardly Hateful.



TORO CARTEL - Toro Cartel, a New Mexico-bred filly sired by Corona Cartel out of dam Fly Ta Me, was purchased for $75,000. Fly Ta Me was a finalist in the Grade 1 Golden State Derby. At the time of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, she had produced one other starter, Fly Ta Cartel, who was a winner in 2006.



SILVER V - Silver V cost $61,000. She is a California-bred filly sired by Fishers Dash out of dam Jazzes Charger. Although Jazzes Charger did not win in her career, she was a sister to former champion Uncas. Silver V's half-sister Snazzy Ride was a winner in 2006.



TRIAL 12:



FREAKY - Dam was third in the California Sires Cup Futurity and produced the stakes placed Secretly Seymour. Female family features the likes of Backin and Sunland Park Fall Derby winner Cola Diabla.



JAY TEE EL - Jay Tee El, a California-bred colt, was purchased for $110,000. He is the son of sire Separatist and dam Elans Secret. Elans Secret is the dam of Double Dot Do, who won The Classics Futurity.



TRIAL 13:



A TEMPTING STRAWFLY
- A California-bred filly purchased for $16,000, A Tempting Strawfly is the first foal of dam A Tempting Chick, a winner of three races in her career and a finalist in the Grade 1 Governor's Cup Derby and the Grade 2 La Primera Del Ano Derby. Her sire is Strawfly Special, the sire of two-time world champion Tailor Fit.



GENE BROTHER - An $8,200 purchase, Gene Brother is a California-bred gelding sired by First Down Express out of dam Pegging. Pegging was a finalist in the Grade 2 La Primera Del Ano Derby and won two races and $9,393 in her career. She is the dam of four-time winner Pegadash. First Down Express is the sire of Grade 1 winners The A List and Heza Secret Diamond.



BOY BEAUTIFUL - One of two foals at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale out of dam Girl Secrets and sire Fishers Dash, California-bred gelding Boy Beautiful was purchased for $20,000. Girl Secrets won seven races, including the Grade 1 Golden State Derby, and earned $177,552 in her career.



CARTEL SIZZLE - A Maryland-bred colt, Cartel Sizzle was a $20,000 purchase. He is the son of sire Corona Cartel and dam Corona Kool. Corona Kool won 14 races and $1,296,797 and was the former AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Filly and Champion Aged Mare. Her Grade 1 victories included the Los Alamitos Million Futurity, the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity, the Los Alamitos Super Derby and the Los Alamitos Invitational Championship. As a dam, she has produced Ed Burke finalist A Very Kool Chick.



TRIAL 14:



MAGIC SHOW CZECH
- A California-bred colt, Magic Show Czech was entered in the Los Alamitos Equine Sale but not sold. His dam, Thoroughbred Pure Magic, was unraced but has produced Quarter Horse stakes winners Pure Rhythm and Pure Red Hot. Sire Corona Czech was a finalist in the Grade 1 Kindergarten Futurity.



OUGHT TO BE CORONA - Bought for $100,000, Ought To Be Corona is an Oklahoma-bred colt sired by Corona Cartel out of dam Ought To Be Famous. She is the half-sister of I Ought To Be First, a winner of five starts, including the Grade 3 Vandy's Flash Handicap. She is also the half-sister of Separate Tac, who finished second in the Grade 1 Rainbow Derby.



MONARCH PASS - Dam has produced stakes winners First Special Dash and Dashin With Johnny, who won at 870 yards. She is also the dam of stakes placed runners Awsome Ashley and I Want It Now.



PERKSANDMIRACLES - A $10,000 purchase, Perksandmiracles is a Washington-bred filly sired by Royal Miracle Dip out of dam This Perks Is Royal. This Perks Is Royal is the dam of two stakes winners. Royal Miracle Dip's first crop is racing in 2007. Royal Miracle Dip was a finalist in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Million Futurity and the Grade 1 Golden State Futurity.
