OUGHT TO BE CORONA DEBUTS IN 8TH

Dutch Masters III's Ought To Be Corona, the 14th highest seller at the 2006 Los Alamitos Equine Sale, will make his debut in the 8th race on Thursday at Los Alamitos. Trained by Jaime Gomez, Ought To Be Corona will use this outing as a prep for the trials to the Ed Burke Million Futurity to be held on June 9.

Purchased for $100,000 from the Lazy E Consignment, Ought To Be Corona is by leading sire Corona Cartel out of the stakes producing mare Ought To Be Famous. The latter is the dam of I Ought To Be First, a winner of five races and over $108,305. Sired by Apollo, I Ought To Be First won the Vandy's Flash Handicap and finished third in the Los Alamitos Derby. He also placed in the Town Policy Handicap, Bayer Legend California Challenge and Dillingham Handicap.

Ought To Be Corona's third dam is the famous Go Man Go mare Ought To Go, who produced the outstanding Fishers Favorite, a very influential mare in the sport. Fishers Favorite is the second dam of talented stallion Check Him Out. She is also the dam of the First Femme, who dropped champion Old Habits. Ought To Go is the third dam of World Champion and Champion of Champions winner Special Leader and the second dam of distance champion Hateful Hanna and champion 2-year-old gelding Solvency.

He won the Kindergarten Futurity and Golden State Derby on the way to cashing in for over $600,000. It doesn't stop there for Ought To Go, as her daughter Bedawee produced Heritage Place Futurity winner Daring Difference, West Texas Futurity winner Mr Eye Opener and Kindergarten runner-up Miss Eye Opener, who is the dam of the aforementioned Special Leader.

In addition to his outstanding female family, the colt Ought To Be Corona is blessed with having Corona Cartel as his sire. Corona Cartel won the 1996 Kindergarten Futurity and Los Alamitos Million Futurity and last Saturday he was the wining sire of the Kindergarten Futurity, which was won by his son Carters Cartel.

EQUINE SALE STRONGLY REPRESENTED IN 8TH

Thursday's eighth race, which features a full field of 10 2-year-olds, could turn into a battle between two red-hot stables. On one side will be Hall of Fame owner Ed Allred, who is having an outstanding year as the meet's leading owner of 2-year-olds with eight winners from his first 27 starts. On the other side will be first-year owner Jaime Godinez, who has won three races with his 2-year-olds from only eight starts. Allred and Godinez are currently one-two in the leading owner standings in the 2-year-old division at Los Alamitos.

Allred will be represented by the First Down Express gelding Thinking First, who enters with an outstanding work tab that included a bullet drill of :12.1 on April 25. Trained by Scott Willoughby, Thinking First is eligible to the Golden State Million, which shows that the owner and trainer have high hopes for the gray gelding.

Godinez's Bono Again will have the edge of experience in this race, as he'll enter having recently finished third to Pappasito on April 28. Bono Again showed a lot of run late in that race when covering the distance in :15.98. Carlos Huerta will pilot for Guillermo Morales. Robertson Ranch's Cartel Sizzle will be making his racing debut for trainer Juan Aleman. He is by Corona Cartel, who last weekend sired the winner of the $366,100 Kindergarten Futurity, and out of the champion millionaire Corona Kool. Dutch Masters III's Ought To Be Corona, a $100,000 purchase last year, will also compete.

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL, RUN SAFELY........ sunny
