I found out the other day that we may have to put Boss, our St. Bernard to sleep. He's at the vet right now and the vet diagnosed him with Wobblers Disease. It's got something to do with his spinal cord and nerves. I know it's probably the best thing for Boss but I'm not ready for him to go yet. He's got bad hips and can't get up on his own anymore, sometimes when he walks even a few steps he falls down. It's not the life for him. He's almost 7 so he's lived around how long most St. Bernards live. The vet has got him on some medicine and when he called last night he said he was pretty much the same. He called today and said Boss was still pretty much the same but wanted to give it a little bit more time to see if it would work. But it's not looking to good. It's starting to affect his bladder right now. Tthe vet had to do something with it to help him go to the bathroom. I can't do it. I think they might put him down tonight or tomorrow. I'm not sure, I don't want to have to put him down but I know we need to. Just the thought of him not being around anymore makes me cry and when I think about his big droopy eyes looking at me. I don't know what I'll do when he's gone.

Aww Lindsey! I am sooo sorry to hear that Sad Its always hard to let an animal go. Trust me I know. They are like a big chunk of your everday life. Just know that you have a special place in his heart, and he will always remember you and your family.

Sit down and have a good old fashioned cry, thats what I did a few times when I had to decide what was best for Temperance.

That's what I did last night. I litterally cried my self to sleep when my mom said that we might put him down today.

I'm just trying to think of all the good times I had with him and how he wont be in any more pain. I'm gonna go see him one last time at the vet tonight when my mom gets off work.

Sorry to hear about Boss. He looks like such a gentle giant. If he is suffering so much though, it sounds like you have done all you can and it is time to let him rest in peace.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Sad He looks like a great dog. Just trust that you are doing the best thing for him. It's so hard to lose a pet. I'll be thinking of you.

I'm sorry for your situation

I know how hard it is to lose a pet. Wobbler's is a hard disease and the horse or dog doesn't have a good quality of life

you are doing the right thing even though its hard and your doing well by remembering the good times you two had together

its okay to be sad

*hugs*

Well I've got some bad news.

Boss passed away on his own last night inbetween 7-8. The vet had just gone home for dinner and when he came back Boss had passed. Boss knew we were having a hard time with him and that it wouldbe even harder on us if we had to put him down so he did it on his own. He had the biggest kindest heart a dog could ever have. It's sad and I'm heart broken but I know he's no longer in any pain and he can finally get up on his own and play again.

I'm so sorry hon, I do really know how you feel, it's so hard to loose a friend that's been a constant in your life for so long. But, thinking of the good things, the good days, the funny things they do, and the fact that he is in doggy heaven, running around like a puppy, that's what gets me through it all. I know you must be hurting right now, but if you ever need to talk, just know I'm here to listen. ((((((HUGS))))))

It's going to be weird in the house without him and for me. I've never in my life been without a dog. He can never be replaced, he was the best dog there could be. I know of 2 people who have a dog well puppy that they don't have to get rid of. One is an Australlian Sheppard and the other is a healer mix, but my mom doesn't want another one so soon. I can see why. I'm gonna miss him sooooooo much. I get sad just thinking about him and how he looked up at me on Friday with his big droopy eyes.

It's hard to think that just a few weeks ago he was doing good and was still able to walk several houses down and back and then within a couple days it all went down hill.

Sad Sad Sad Sad I do not even know him. It breaks my heart. I will have to face this one day with my pets too. I can deal with it when they have lived passed what they should have and they are old. I have lost some to old age and others to being injured and sick.. It tears me up more than anything.. I love all animals more then people. I love people too. But, then I refer to my animals as people.

I am sorry honey and I am glad you are strong enough to remember the happy thoughts with your buddy. He was very special and will never be forgotten..

I love Boss! He was such a sweet gentle giant!

If Belly Button had any puppies I would definaltey want yall to have one! I would snatch one up, tie a purple ribbon around its neck, and give it to you!

It will get better day by day.
