Separate Bet Debuts Friday WithTrack Record Performance
RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—June 16, 2007—Separate Bet showed he is more than ready for the Grade 1 Rainbow Derby trials On July 7 by setting a 400 yard track record in his first start since October 21 during Friday's featured race at Ruidoso Downs.
The three-year-old Separatist gelding out of Better Be On Me by First Down Dash covered the distance in a swift :19.186 seconds. Racing for Harrel, Barrett and Adams, Separate Bet won by 3-1/4 lengths. He was bred by Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC.
The previous track record was set July 25, 2004 when Thewayyouwantmetoo went :19.209 for 400 yards.
Last summer, he finished eighth in the Grade 1, $2 million All American Futurity at 4-1 odds. He is trained by Paul Jones and ridden by Freddie Martinez.
