| Makes for a better horse menatlly to do that, and they know how to be outside with flies and noises and sights. I have seen so many show horses who about have a heart attack when they are put out they end up having a horse mental breakdown. |

| My quarter horse mare ive had for 6 years was ring sour when i brought her(i didnt know at the time).Ive since bred 2 foals from her,she gets turnt out in a field with her pals everyday as do my others.I let her be a horse. She is 14yrs and has now taken up showjumping of which she loves,a little bit to much really. She is sound both mentally and physically now.I also show her AQHA and so does my daughter. She hacks around the New Forest and is also doing a competition trail ride in the New Forest on sunday with my eldest daughter. Most horses at this age have broken down with the tough competition life and confinement. She is my best friend. I hate the fact that stallions get penned up all the time,The stallion i had went out with geldings everday and was a horse.Unfortunatley i had to sell him and guess what he now in confinement, which i feel very guilty for. It must be worse for him as he know the otherside of life. | |

| Remember that paint mare that I had posted earlier, Lady? Well, I got her when she was 3. She had been up in the stall her whole danged life. Now, when she went out in the pasture, she had no idea how to treat the other horses - we had lots of fights there, didn't know how to drink out of the pond, etc. Took her some getting used to, course she was always lead mare, but she made it all right. And she was always the type of mare, that it didn't matter if I hadn't rode her in 2 years, I could go out there with a lead rope and a halter, squiggle my big butt up on her bareback, and just take off... she was a super cool mare. With my stallions, if they're not being shown, they are outside during the day. With my paint stud, once the mares were back in foal, he'd go out with the mares and the babies, best babysitter I ever had. I've always wanted to put Kid out with the mares, but I'm not exactly sure who would have all the marks on 'em, him or them, so I don't take the chance. He has a lot different mindset than my paint stud did. There's a pen out in front of the house that's oh, about a half acre, maybe a little more, and Kid's been going outside in it all day; course had to call the neighbors and tell them don't be messing with the stud. Right now, Scamp and Jazz lost their stalls.... the mares are in 'em. They're up by the barn, and they had sheds, but they're out in a big pen. As soon as the babies are a couple of weeks old, they'll go outside. | |

| I find it amazing that there isn't more testing in showing! I have a cutting and racing background. Cutting there was definately some stuff going on but that was mostly with the people...the horses if any were given sedatives... Racing everything is pretty straight forward. You still have some stuff going on, you always will, but things are pretty dang tight. Now in racing they do a urine test and draw blood. Urine is for the top couple and blood is random...and blood is done before the race I believe...I was always scared silly they would test a filly we had last year because she HATED needles and would try to take your head off if she wasn't in stocks and held by a good twitch and 1-2 people (getting a coggins drawn was torture)...I could just see her killing someone when she was pumped and race ready and then seeing a needle! Testing is SO important for not only the integrity of the sport but also the health of the horses...Test test test! | |

| Well, I would think since we're having to pay for it, what $3 for every horse that enters, that at least we'd see somebody there pulling something. If some of those people that are doing that to these horses would get fined or suspended, then things would start to change! | |

| I think they should be doing the random drug testing for every x number of horses entered x number of drug tests then post the results post it in the Journal or somewhere public including horses name trainer and owner I think it would be wonderful... if my trainer were slipping my horse something I would want to know and I would love to see the results posted publicly hold people accountable for their actions. Also then people would see which trainers were clean which breeders were clean etc... things would clean up fast if it were truly a random sample. | |

| I think that since it is such a high cost for drug testing the least they could do is to test every single horse at say the Congress, AQHA/PHBA/APHA world show. I will bet the bank that in those shows they would find the most violators. Then for the normal breed shows test a certain amount of horse per class. One of the problems with the testing though is the test is pretty generic unless they get into testing for certain types of drugs and even then, the trainers etc are always switching to new drugs so sadly that makes detecting them all the more harder. |

| Tara And who is the golden girl in your photo? Like we don't know, its been awhile! So lets see the cheeks! Hee Hee They charge us for the darn test even if they aren't testing that day. Why charge us if they aren't even there! I like it when the they show up and announce before the show starts, WE ARE GOING TO BE TESTING CLASSES SUCH AND SUCH.. Watch the trailers leave then! Classes scratched, tucking tails and running! Congress does test mostly open classes. Not always those who win. Its RANDOM. What ever. Tara did they test at the PHBA World Show? As for me and Mine, Bring on the Needles! Go get the Pee Cup. Im good to go. Hee Hee. | |

| I heard they tested some, but I never saw the testers anywhere and we walked all over so you would think we would have seen something. |

| I think they should test grand and reserve in halter and the first two in each class... that'll quit that mess... plus all the top ten in every single world show... Guess what would happen! There might be more of us "regular" people that'd go to the world... well, maybe. | |

| I'm still bitter about being pulled for testing back in August...some of you may recall I was the only stud over a year old at the flippin show.... meanwhile there were mares there, (led by some "bigger boys") that could pull their own trailers home, that went untested ...to top it off, it took that "vet" 7 tries to hit a vein! | |

| I still can't believe you didn't grab the needle from him and do it yourself... Lordy, somebody would be hearing some serious sighs, ughs coming out of my mouth... You know, since Mr. Merrill is all up on this testing and he doesn't like some of the things being done... I think I'll just draft a letter some time this next week, on some of our feelings on the testing. And if they wanna test me, by GAWD, here, ya go! Just don't be sticking my horse seven times, or you'll get a boot in the uh, well, ya know... | |

| I have seen trailers pull out when testers are there.. I have seen many tested as well. And, the big time people have already figured out how to get around it anyway. Just like people and drug testing... If I have to drug my horse to win I will not show them. If I have to pay for testing then come test my horse.. And, if you are going to charge for testing at least have the testers there At least the ones who are cheating will pull out.. | |

Nope not me, You were nicer then I would have been. ..Yeah, I wouldn't say I was nicer, trust me I was boiling, but it was only my 2nd AQHA show, and my 1st time being tested...so I'd say I was just plain green... I've learned that next time I'll put up a fuss if it takes more than 2 sticks for the blood... and next time, no lasix either, they'll just have to baby-sit his...ah, you know, until nature calls on its own! | |

| Kell, I probably would've done the same thing my first round, especially with it being the second quarter show... I'm glad you mentioned that Lasix... I'll have to remember that... I don't know about you guys' horses, but I swear every danged I bring mine in from outside, the first thing they do is pee, doesn't matter if it's a stud, a stud colt, a mare, whatever... I'm like, crap, you idigt, I just got through cleaning that! Do you all's horses do that? | |
