| So how many of you take your cell phone on a ride with you for safety purposes? I am just curious. I take mine with me on every ride. A lot of the time mine will not have service when I am riding in mountains but it does send a signal if you call 911. My horse knows when the cell phone rings you whoa, he has picked that up in just the last month. I don't even have to say whoa anymore he just stops! | |

| For me, it's just another part of my trail pack, but just for safety, I always keep it on vibrate because you never know how someone else's horse is going to react to something new. I do think it's a good safety tool though, not to mention that most cell phones are GPS enabled, if it's on, they can find you from you GPS beacon. | |

| I always saw that GPS signal thingie on my phone. I didn't realize that is what that was for so I guess I'd better enable that!! | |

| Bluejay, that's so cool! We have cell phones, but we don't get service at the house unless it's at night - figures! Like I'm going to be doing something with the horses, short of foaling, out in the dark! If I've got something funky going on, I'll call my neighbor, she's always at home... okay, give me 20-30 minutes, and if I'm not back in by then, you come and take me to the hospital. I think it makes her a nervous wreck, though. One time I forgot to call... oops! | |

| The area we are in is out of range too.. I think Cingular is the only cell that works out here.. I had no idea what was going on with cell phones until I started my training.. They are the Boost Mobile.. It is a pay as you go things.. They are walkie talkies, wireless web, GPS (Boost loopt is a service you can put your friends in and know where they are all the time, and it will tell you when you are close to them so you can meet up.. You can also set it so no one knows where you are.. I can see some strange things going on with this service), they have mulit media so you can send a pictures and audio to a friend.. I guess you could make a vidoe and sent it to your friends phone.. Anyway, there are millions of people in this service. I am supposed to learn all about this so I can help customers on the phone.. LOL. I can't even turn mine on.. My poor little brain is fried.. They have a web site called boostmobile.com | |

| lol well, my cell phone is almost on me 24-7, so of course I take it on rides. However, I am bad for not telling anyone where I am going or what i am doing.... But now, I usually have my best friend with me (she lives with me), so hopefully she remembers the number for 911! LOL | |
