| Ok, well first I'll just start off with something that happened on Thursday. Most of you know that I have really, really bad knee problems and it's been going on for about three or four years now. Well, I've gone to a bunch of the best doctors, and after a year of know one knowing what's going on, we just found out that both of my knee caps are completely out of place, about as bad as they can be, and it explains exactly why I've been in so much pain, to the point where I can't walk. Well, Dr. figures about 8 months of rehab to get the muscles to pull my knee caps back in place, with x-rays every month or so to make sure it's not damaging my tendons anymore than it has already. My cartilidge is practially gone now from the bone scraping so much. If the rehab doesn't start helping, I'll be having surgery in the next 4 months or so. Atleast I know what's wrong now. Now for the interesting stuff... We were driving up to People's Valley today, it's about an hour from our house, to help my cousins move stuff from their storage, well, on the way up there, we were going up what local people call Yarnell Hill, and it's one of those places like what you'd see in an old movie about kids racings cars and they always have the dead mans curve, well Yarnell Hill does actually have a dead mans curve. In the last 12 months, there have been approximately 23 motocycle accidents there, 16 have been fatal. Well, today we missed a guy going off the cliff by seconds, litterally. There was a group that was going up the hill today, all riding those little crotch rocket bikes and all thinking they were just hot poop, I'm sure you all know the type. Well, one of them laid down his bike on dead mans curve, his bike hit the mountain and he basically super manned it off the cliff, right over the guardrail. He flew 150 according the the patroll man. When we got there, there were a lot of people crowding the guy, no one had a cell phone and my mom called 911 and got an EMT squad on the way while I went down there to gather up the situation. I got some people cleared, and found out that through the whole thing, the guy stayed concious, which was a good sign, had his helmet on the whole way. Basically what it came down too though, we figured out that he had a coumpound fracture in his Tib / Fib , atleast four breaks, you could tell his ankle was fractured. He also broke his wrist, either dislocated or broke both shoulders, his back is broke, left hip is broke, and after all that, he was still lucky as hell to be alive. I've got to say though, that first EMT squad was just dumb as a box of rocks, you can tell they're just not used to handling trauma victims, the people who came in the ambulance were a lot more knowledgeable though. I had to educate the first guys on how to do a dang splint, which I thought was about the most rediculous thing in the world. Took about 6 other people and me to carry the guy on a stretcher up the dang mountain, I tell ya, I'm tired as heck, we set out there for a good hour with the guy, trying to get him comfortable and keeping people from panacking. He's so lucky to be alive, no joke. It's just one cross that won't be on the side of that road. His bike was completely totaled, we brought it home in the back of the truck and the guy's buddy came and picked up what was left of it this evening. It's been a real interesting 12 months I tell ya, I'm just gettin a bunch of stories to tell. If any of you pray, pray for this kid, because he needs it bad. | |

| OUCH. Its good you found out whats wrong with your knees. My mom had to have surgery on her right knee for the same exact thing about 10 years ago.
That guy is really lucking to be able to wake up in the morning again. Without a helmet, he was really a goner. Ill be praying for him. | |

| Well, at least you know now on your knees. Boy, you're awfully young to have to go through that type of surgery. Sounds like you had an interesting day, and I hope the boy recovers and learns! | |

| I agree with 7C.. Way too young to be going through this with your knees. At least if you have to have surgery your recovery time will be much easier then it is on the older folks.. Sounds like you might be a natural EMT? | |

| I've had bad knees and really feel for you. I was able to get my caps back to basically where they should be with physio. and Pro Choice knee supports. I hope you don't end up needing surgury, but the end of pain would sure be nice, eh? | |
