DANGED IF SHE AIN'T THE CUTEST LITTLE THING Champion Blues Girl Too Looks Super In Work on Tuesday LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA—Lucky Seven Ranch's Blues Girl Too, the AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old and winner of the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity last season, posted her first official drill of the season when she delivered a powerful :11.80 clocking in a 220-yard turn-and-work Tuesday at Los Alamitos.
With Saul Ramirez Jr. in the irons, Blues Girl Too had the fastest of 12 turn-and-works this morning. The Corona Cartel filly is scheduled to make her sophomore debut in the trials to the August 18 Golden State Derby according to trainer Joe Bassett.
"She did great in that work," Bassett explained. "We had given her a couple of other prep drills, all of them shorter and softer, but we stepped it up this morning. We asked her for more today and she responded. We're going to give her one more work before her debut in the derby trials."
Blues Girl Too won five of her seven outings last season. In addition to winning the "Deuce", she was second in both the Ed Burke Million Futurity and Golden State Million Futurity. Blues Girl Too finished the year with $1,214,666 in earnings.

Startlet Hawk, the winner of last year's Grade 1 Golden State Derby, also worked on Tuesday. The 4-year-old Hawkinson gelding has not raced this year but he could make his racing return on California Breeders Champions Night. Startlet Hawk also won the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby last year.
Allowance Races Set For Friday EveningTwo allowance events are on tap Friday, headed by a group of 3-year-olds and upwards racing in a $14,300 allowance in the eighth of 10 races this evening.
The oldest horse in the field is the 6-year-old Finallylegal, a son of First Down Dash out of the stakes winner Totally Illegal. Finallylegal has hit the board in all six of his starts this season, finishing second three times and third in the other three. He earned show money in the Brotherly Handicap on May 12. Owned and trained by Jose De La Torre, Finallylegal has finished second in three allowance races this year.
Gomez III's Rumor Control is the only 3-year-old in the field. A full brother to All American Futurity winner Ausual Suspect, Rumor Control ran third to El Arizona Kid in the Los Alamitos Two Million Juvenile Stakes last season. He is coming off an out of the money finish in the trials to the Los Alamitos Winter Derby. Trained by Jaime Gomez, Rumor Control has not raced since the first week of February.
John Sperry's homebred filly Eyesa Perry, who ran fourth to multiple Grade 1 winner Carters Cartel in a trial to the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity, headlines the allowance test for freshmen. Eyesa Perry is by Mr Jess Perry out of Inthetwinkleofaneye, who won multiple stakes races for Sperry in her racing career. Tell Em Belle, who is coming off a second place finish to the undefeated Bikers Bono, is another talented runner in this field. The Oklahoma-bred Tres Seis filly broke her maiden two outings ago against a group that included Governor's Cup Futurity finalist Air Traffic Controlr.
