Bucks hoof is splitting and I know you can get like hoof tar stuff to stop it and keep it from going any further but we don't have any horse places around here where I can buy it and I won't be going out of town. I also have the fair this week and I want to be able to ride him so I was wondering if there is any non horse stuff that I can buy to use on it instead? Like glue of some sort or what?? Need it quick! Thanks!

Biotien, Feed that. You can use, used motor oil, if his hooves are dry, Any hoof conditioner will help, but really what it boils down to, is lack of Moisture. If they are chipping due to, to much rain, then keep him in the dry more.

Another thing you can do if it is a true crack and only if you or your farrier feel comfortable, is, right where the crack is stopped right now, take a tiny drill bit and make a tiny (and I do mean tiny) drill right there. You have to go deep enough to where the crack goes through, but no deeper. It will keep the crack from traveling further upward. It's can be a little nerve wracking, and again, only do it if you (or preferably your farrier) are comfortable and your horse isn't going to move all over the place with the noise of the drill. It does work though, and we've done it lots of times.

The "glue" you're refering too is called EPOXY. You can buy epoxy at any home depot. It can be hard to use, so read the directions and only put it on the HOOF WALL. It can really dry out the sole if you put it there and cause problems, especially the non-horsey stuff. For future reference, horse.com carrier a supply of epoxy products that is good stuff Wink
