what is the difference in champagne vs cremello? what do you get when you breed a champagne to a chestnut? I have someone wanting to trade horses and don't know much about a champagne I am wanting to find out the color info and would love any info anyone has- I know the basic facts r/t cremello but have no knowledge about champagne...

Thanks in advance!!!

All I really know about it is they have pink skin under the paly coat. Cremello has the pink skin but the coat is white or almost white. Some have blue eyes.

I would think with the skin being pink you would be able to get paly out of the cross. I crossed my light chestnut to a paly and got paly.

Chamagne is very rare. If I liked the horse as well I would go for it.. riding

Keep in mind that the whole horse should have the pink skin. Some think because the horse has a light coat that it's champagne.. It's not the coat color that separates it from the others. study

someone i know has a golden champagne,he has produced golden, amber, classic champagnes on various mares. He has also produced sorrels but not many,oh and a bay. All depends on what shade the horse is,do you know?

she is very very light golden mother is golden champagne both of mother's parents are champagne there are some pro's and con's to the whole thing and they are open to parting with some of their broodmares as well but Im not so interested in the mares they are old foundation breeding w/o any show records seems they are breeding foundation and only for color. The filly is cute just older foundation stuff nothing that has really done anything recently but not bad. I could work with filly and maybe get her some points or earnings that way she could be more marketable as a broodmare and bred on my chestnut stallion who has points and earnings if she produced something nice it would be worth a bit more. Sometimes I get tired of the red Smile . I don't want another mare but if they trade out something I have that they like she is cute.....

The old foundation bred horses are popular around here with that group. Color is much more fun then the red and they do market quicker then the red. If you like the horse go for it.. Might have a blast.. cheers

UM... scratch Where are the pictures? No

Decided against the filly she just didn't have any bloodlines and I couldn't go only with color, also I think we have decided to trade the mare for $ and frozen semen from the stallion on the filly in my sig. pic. love him and he is a double registered son of Smart Little Lena much better value if you ask me and I can breed a couple of my mares I was wanting to breed for replacement fillies now fingers crossed for fillies.

A Cremello will produce color 100% of the time, Be it dun, palomino, buckskin, the will pass the creme gene everytime. If you can a cremello with the bloodlines you want, you will have color! Love those golden horses! or a pretty bucky!

I might be wrong, but I dont think a champagne carries the creme gene.
