| COURTESY OF STALLIONESEARCH.COM Blue Ribbon Downs Overnight Purses To Increase Friday SALLISAW, OK—OCTOBER 3, 2007—Starting Friday, October 5, American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa overnight purses will witness a healthy increase at Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The increases will last for the duration of the meet ending on December 9, 2008. Overnight purses for American Quarter Horses will increase 16% making the average overnight purse $8,700. In addition, Paint and Appaloosa overnight races will spike to a $7,900 average. Live meet revenues have surpassed original projections allowing the Blue Ribbon Downs to pass along the gains to horsemen. “We have seen a slight increase in revenues and are glad to distribute this money to the horsemen supporting our meet at Blue Ribbon Downs,” said General Manager Blaine Story. The Blue Ribbon Downs meet has several major stakes races remaining such as the Black Gold Futurity—350 Yard Division, Black Gold Championship (RG3) and Black Gold Derby. “The 70-day meet at Blue Ribbon Downs is an important part of Quarter Horse racing in Oklahoma. With these increases in overnight purses, it is sure to attract the best horses in this part of the country,” said Debbie Schauf, Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association Executive Director. Oklahoma offers nearly year-round racing opportunities for American Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas at the state’s four tracks. Nearly $20,000,000 in purses and more than $1,500,000 in Oklahoma-Bred awards are projected for 2008.
