Xo Kate easily sets the fastest time with a 1-1/2 length trial win in the Sam Houston Futurity trials

Xo Kate Top Qualifier From Nine Sam Houston Futurity(G1) Trials SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK, AUGUST 24, 2007—
Xo Kate returned to track Friday night with a vengeance following a fourth place effort in the Grade 1 $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity on June 10th.
The gray daughter of third year leading sire Stoli won the eighth of nine trials by 1-1/2 lengths to post the fastest qualifying time in the Sam Houston Futurity(G1) trials at Sam Houston Race Park.
The ten fastest qualifiers will return on September 7 to contest the $342,500 final over 400 yards.
Racing for Isidro Flores and bred in Texas by Myrna Rheudasil and Burnett Ranches,
Xo Kate has won three of six starts and earned in excess of $61,000. Trained by M. Heath Taylor and ridden by Champion Quarter Horse rider G.R. Carter, Xo Kate was qualifying for her third grade 1 event of the year. On April 22 she finished a troubled seventh in the $546,000 Remington Park Futurity(G1).
Xo Kate covered the 400 yard distance in :19.913 seconds.
Pool, a multiple stakes winning son of Shazoom, destroyed the field in the fourth race
winning by 5 ¼ lengths for the second best time of :19.973. He had previously won the $144,880 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park on July 14. Manuel Garcia was aboard for trainer Ricky Hinojosa.
Owned by Legacy Partnership, Pool also won the Ford Texas Juvenile Challenge at Retama Park and was second in the Longhorn Futurity at Manor Downs.
Following a troubled start, TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1) winner
Dirt Track Date qualified with the ninth best time after finishing second in the second trial. The Hotdoggin filly has won three of five starts and earned more than $170,000 this season.
