TRI SHAKE EM MEETS POOL IN SIRES' CUP

July 11, 2007 – Fastest qualifier Tri Shake Em races for his third straight win, but must beat Ford Texas Juvenile Challenge winner Pool in the $135,280 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity (RG2) on Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.

Heriberto Garza’s Tri Shake Em (Royal Shake Em-Tripoli Chic by Chicks Beduino) has rounded into form for trainer Manuel Vega Jr. with wins in his latest two races. He won the Remington Park Invitational and then set the fastest-qualifying time of :17.897 for 350 yards in his TQHA Futurity trial.

The Legacy Partnership’s Pool (Shazoom-Scared by Dashing Val) has four wins and a second in the Longhorn Futurity (G2) from five starts. The Ricardo Hinojosa-trained colt scored his most important win when he won the Ford Texas Juvenile Challenge by a neck at 9-5 odds.

FAVORITE POOL TAKES TQHA SIRES' CUP FUTURITY

July 16, 2007 – Fourth-fastest qualifier and 4-5 favorite Pool dueled early and drove to a head victory in the $144,880 TQHA Sires Cup Futurity (RG2). Ridden by Manuel Garcia for the Rio Grande City, Texas-based Legacy Partnership and trainer Ricardo Hinojosa, the Shazoom colt went 350 yards in :17.602 and recorded his second stakes win.

“He ran really well,” said Garcia, who also rode Pool to a victory in the May 19 Ford Texas Juvenile Challenge (G3) at Retama Park. “He was a little bit slow in the state and in the back, but he caught up real well.”

Bred by Kent Kleinknecht of Los Angeles, Pool is one of three winners from five starters foaled by the Grade 3-winning Dashing Val mare Scared. All told, the colt has won five of six races, and the $57,952 winner’s share of the TQHA Sires Cup Futurity increased his earnings to $133,563.

Panther Purr, Gettin The Cash, Defining Difference, fastest qualifier Tri Shake Em, Wowzer Won, Stolia Del Rey, Stol The Day, Shes Catty and Landon Southern Jr completed the order of finish.
