Best May Be In Last Ruidoso Sale Futurity Trials on Friday

The last of eight trials to the $200,000 (est.) Ruidoso Quarter Horse Sale Futurity is the deepest of the 350-yard heats with three experienced futurity horses, headed by New Mexican Spring Futurity winner Genuine Streaker.

First post time for the 9-race card is 1 p.m. with the trials carded as the first eight races. There is always free parking and free grandstand admission.

J.P. Gonzales’ Genuine Streaker is the early-season leader in the New Mexico-bred juvenile ranks with his neck win in the New Mexican Spring Futurity. The son of Genuine Strawfly raced the 300 yards in a superb :15.06 for his second straight win after finishing fourth in his career debut.

Strong challengers to Genuine Streaker are Zanmir and Uncle Dallas. Zanmir, a Dean Miracle filly, was fifth in the Spring Futurity while Uncle Dallas, a Dash Ta Fame gelding, was fifth in the New Mexico Spring Fling Futurity.

A First Caller, third-place finisher in the Spring Futurity, starts the afternoon’s trials when he goes postward in the first trial. The Calligrapher brother to Zia Futurity runner-up Mightys First Call won his maiden at first asking and then was a close second in his Spring Futurity trial.

Zanmir Is Bargain Winner In Ruidoso Sale Futurity(RG2)



RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 17, 2007—Zanmir, a $4,000 Ruidoso Sale purchase last summer, earned $94,862 for owners The Zand Partnership by racing to a neck victory in the $197,629 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Sale Futurity(RG2) at Ruidoso Downs on Sunday afternoon.
The win pushed the Blane Wood-trained filly’s earnings to above $132,000. She has four wins and a fifth in the New Mexican Spring Futurity from five lifetime starts.

Jockey James Gonzales II was aboard the Dean Miracle filly for the victory in :17.813 for 350 yards.

Racing for Lowell Neumayer, Butch Wise and James Pruitt, Gold Zime recovered from a stumble at the start to finish second, three quarters of a length ahead of Won Hot Chick in the field of 10 New Mexico-bred juveniles.

The Major Rime gelding saddled by Michael W. Joiner and ridden by Sam Thompson earned $31,621.

R.D. Hubbard's Won Hot Chick picked up $16,305 for finishing third. The Corona Caliente filly is trained by Jamie Zamora and ridden by Christopher G. Zamora.

Sent off at 3-1 odds, Zanmir returned $7.80, $4.80 and $4.00. Gold Zime paid $7.60 and $6.40 while Won Hot Chick was worth $10.60 to show.
