Los Alamitos Equine Sale Report Correction

CYPRESS, CA—October 8, 2007—In an article published earlier today StallioneSearch.com reported Discreat Retreat, a Mr Jess Perry filly was the second high-seller on day three of the Los Alamtios Equine Sale at $140,000. We failed to include in the article that Balboa Bay, a Corona Cartel colt, was the high-seller on day two for $140,000. These two yearlings consigned by Lazy E Ranch Inc, Agent, were tied as the second-high selling yearlings of the three-day sale.

John Andreini and Benny Rosset purchased Balboa Bay from Lazy E Ranch Inc, Agent for Deer Creek Holding Co. Balboa Bay (Hip #267) is the first foal out of the First Down Dash mare Strawberry Dash, who ran fourth for David and Susan Mackie in the Southern California Derby and fifth in the Los Alamitos Derby. A full sister to two-time champion Stoli and 2005 All American Juvenile Stakes winner Rousing Encore, Strawberry Dash won four races in her racing career for earnings of $68,850.

"Balboa Bay is a great looking colt and I knew his dam well," said Danny Cardoza, the ranch manager at Andreini's ranch and Los Alamitos' all-time leading Quarter Horse jockey in wins. "Strawberry Dash broke my ribs when I was breaking her as a 2-year-old. She was a talented runner but she some bad racing luck; otherwise she would have made a lot more money. We believe she has great potential as a broodmare and you can't go wrong when you have Corona Cartel as the sire."

Tom Atwood purchased Discreat Retreat (Hip #630) for $140,000 from Lazy E Ranch, Agent for Stone Chase Stables, Discreat Retreat is a half sister to the Holland Ease gelding Night Time Deelites, winner of the Higheasterjet Handicap and finalist to the Los Alamitos Million Futurity.

Lazy E Ranch, Agent, also sold the high seller, Make It Anywhere, a multiple stakes sire and half-brother to Champion Separatist, for $230,000 to Ing Ramiro Villareal Tostado.

Zory Kuzyk purchased the Grand Slam colt Twice As Grand (Hip #432) out of her mare Check Her Twice for $160,000 on the final day of the sale to make him the high selling yearling of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. Roger Daly consigned Twice As Grand on behalf of Kuzyk and D. Wayne Lukas. With the transaction, Kuzyk buys out Lukas’ interest on the half brother to multiple Grade 1 sire Check Him Out.
