Valiant Hero Going To Lazy E, Syndication Process Begins

GUTHRIE, OK—September 5, 2007—Valiant Hero, the leading money earning male from the pedigree which has produced millionaires Corona Cash and Corona Kool and leading sire Corona Cartel, is being syndicated and will begin his stud duty at Lazy E Ranch near Guthrie, Oklahoma, in 2008.

Bred by Julianna Hawn Holt, Valiant Hero was the high-seller at the 2005 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale when the partnership of Bud Hill, Terry Bell and Henry and Mimi Brown submitted a $500,000 bid.

“We have had many substantial offers for this horse this year, but we really have enjoyed owning him and we have enjoyed our partnership,” Brown said. “However, we have decided to syndicate the horse and those who join the syndicate today will be able to participate in the remainder of his racing career as well as his breeding career.”

Brown said Valiant Hero (who ran fifth by three quarters of a length in the Grade I All American Derby on Saturday) had been scoped by veterinarians from Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery since the race and that they had found him to have a serious infection under his flapper, obviously impairing his breathing during the race. Brown also said that Valiant Hero had been moved from Ruidoso Downs to trainer Mike Joiner’s stables at Frontera Training Center near Sunland Park.

“We are aggressively treating the inflammation and we expect to colt to return to peak condition. He should be able to resume training for a fall campaign shortly,” said Marty Ivy, DVM, of ESMS. “We have completely radiographed the horse and see no reason why he should not return to top form.”

Brown said Valiant Hero is eligible for both the Grade I Dash For Cash Derby (trials October 13, finals October 28) and Grade I Los Alamitos Super Derby (trials October 20, finals November 10). “His rate of recovery is what will determine where and when we next race him,” Brown said.

The winner of last year’s $1,053,912 Grade I Texas Classic Futurity and Dash For Cash Juvenile, Valiant Hero also won this year’s $189,845 Heritage Place Derby. He is a full brother to 4-time Champion Corona Cash earner of $1.5 Million and a half-brother to leading sire Corona Cartel earner of $557,000.
