Senor Seabolt Scores Win In Lee Berwick Futurity At Delta Downs Louisiana Showcase Night Features State-BredsVINTON, LA—JULY 14, 2007—Stacey Moak’s 2-year-old gelding Senor Seabolt used a courageous late run to get past First Dashin Bye just before the finish line and capture this year’s Grade I $431,950 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel.
Under jockey Alfonso Lujan,
Senor Seabolt broke from the rail post position and was fifth before launching a furious late rally. As the finish line was getting closer, the gap between early leader
First Dashin Bye and the rail was closing quickly. First Dashin Bye broke from post position 5 in the 350-yard event but was drifting inward throughout the race, which didn’t leave much room for Senor Seabolt to make his run.
As it turned out, Senor Seabolt charged through the narrow crease and made it to the finish line just a head in front of First Dashin Bye, who settled for second.
Dash to Celebrate rallied late to be third, another half-length behind the top pair.
Senor Seabolt covered the distance over a fast track in a time of :17.574, earning him a speed index of 97.
The victory by Senor Seabolt kept his career record unblemished at four wins in as many starts. The Danny Joe Eldridge trainee earned $194,378 for his effort, which pushed his lifetime bankroll up to $223,478.
Senor Seabolt is a sorrel gelding by Heza Fast Dash, out of the Raise a Rascal (TB) mare Love a Rascal. He was bred in Louisiana by his owner.
First Dashin Bye is track record holding daughter of Dashin Bye and third place finisher, Dash To Celebrate, is gelded son of Toast To Dash.
Sent to the gate at odds of 5-1, Senor Seabolt paid $12.20 to win, $6 to place and $7.20 to show. First Dashin Bye was worth $6.20 to place and $4.40 to show. Dash to Celebrate returned $8.20 to show.
