Ok - we officially have the vet and everyone I've talked to STUMPED!

The 4yo filly who lost all that weight and has been slowly putting it back on is driving us certifiably nuts!!!

She was doing great - running around like a banshee and raising holy comotion...

July 2 - her running buddy hurt himself and moved into a stall
July 3 - neighbors shot off fireworks - she ran till she was silly - stopped and fell over on her side and wouldn't get up - they haltered her and made her walk to the round pen where she stood in the same spot with her head hanging down to her knees for about 4 hours without moving
July 4 - eating, normal bowel movements, but no sparkel in eye
July 7 - weight loss is now noticable (ribs are showing again), spark still not back in eye, normal bowel movements, eating (not with the same ferver but still eating)
July 8 - We visited her and took her antiacid (Kroger brand) and de-wormer...gave her 30ccs of antiacid and the tube of de-wormer...definately no spark in the little witch's eye...about 4 hours after de-worm, antiacid, she perks up a little...when we saw her she wasn't dehydrated, she was BLOATED, she had a very normal bowel movement, and she was lazily munching on some hay...
July 9 - Got an update that she is running wild and crazy again as of old and no ill effects yet...

What the heck is wrong with the danged filly?!?!
The things we came up with were:
- Stress induced ulcer flare up
- Stress induced parisite flare up (even though she had a panacure power pak May 25-30)

The vet said she was just flat out weird...next time she lays out like a dying cow we're going to draw blood to see if she has a muscle disorder...we're out of creative ideas though!!!
Help?!?

I think I might buy the expensive stuff (Ulcer guard) - right now she is doing great on Kroger brand antiacid - go figure?!?!

Ulcers were the first thing that came to mind - I just didn't think they would cause that rapid of weight loss...She's such a fruit loop!!!

She is out with a few other mares - they are all old though and she liked the gelding because he would run around like an idiot with her...

She is a weirdo!!!

When she was in training she went solo - there wasn't a horse within 6 stalls of her...not sure what her deal is - cross your fingers though - still no relapse!!!

I used to be at a paint barn and they had a mare who gas colicked a lot. She would just go and stand in one place, most of the time for 3-4 hours. Then all of a sudden she would just walk off and be just fine. She passed a lot of gas, loud ones too. Vet said to put mineral oil (60-90 cc) on her feed and she never again had one of those spells that we know of. Kinda crazy I know but go figure scratch ...........lots cheaper than ulcer meds and antacids.
