Catchmeinyourdreams Becomes 47th Millionaire After Win LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA—Bred by Ed Allred and owned by Kirk Goodfellow, Catchmeinyourdreams became Quarter Horse racing's 47th millionaire after winning his 2007 debut on Thursday at Los Alamitos.
The five-time AQHA Champion earned $7,700 thanks to his come-from-behind head victory over Siroptimist in the evening's seventh race. Catchmeinyourdreams, who has now earned $1,002,274 after winning 14 of 47 starts, was making his first start since finishing sixth in the Go Man Go Handicap on September 16.
Trained by Chris O'Dell, the 8-year-old gelding by Pritzi Dash out of Lizas Mystique was scratched out of the Los Alamitos Invitational Championship in October due to feet problems. His connections worked hard on him during the winter months before he returned to Los Alamitos for training in the Spring.
"This is a very emotional moment," said Goodfellow. "It's been a long eight months of working with Catchmeinyourdreams two to three hours a day. I didn't know if he would ever come back to the track. This race showed just how big a heart he has.
"There's a couple of people that worked hard behind the scenes with this horse," Goodfellow added. "Horseshoer Roy Smith of Orange, Texas, would drive three hours from his place to mine (in Minden, Texas) just to work on Catchme'. I can't even tell you how many times he came to help Catchme' and he's yet to take one penny from me for his services. Then there's my son-in-law Cody Reynolds, who helped me every day at home with this horse."
Ridden by Jeff Williams, Catchmeinyourdreams has been named the sport's champion aged horse twice and the champion aged gelding thrice. He's a winner of three Grade 1 Los Alamitos Invitational Championship and the Grade 1 Challenge Championship once. He's scheduled to make his next start in the Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship Handicap on Saturday, July 28.
