| We got the first cutting of hay in this week and it looks great!! I haven't got a final bale count yet but I'd say around 600 bales. It was perfect weather and a huge window to get the hay in the barn this year. Usually we are rushing to put it in the barn before a storm or having trouble deciding whether to cut or not.. The hay is nice and dry with good color and lots of leaves. It always feels good to have alot of nice hay in the barn!! How's everybody elae looking for hay around the country this year? | |

| On the Oregon Coast we are still waiting for the window of oppurtunity. At this point we have not heard from our "hay guy". His hay is usually really nice with lots of clover and lotus major plus other grasses. He makes sure that he pastures it back so it will be nice hay for the horses. He is actually like a fourth generation farmer! | |

| we are getting a few days here and there to get the brome in some looks really good but it is getting kind of late to get it cut afraid it is going to be stemmy but I usually only feed prairie hay since most of my horses are fat on that and the prairie hay looks to be an amazing crop with all the rain we keep getting- dont usually cut that until July or August... the wheat is so bad this year from the late freeze and the excessive moisture most people are just baleing that too... | |

| I am just excited that both my horses are out on pasture so I will only need about 100 bales instead of the usual 400-500! I fed my gelding a bale of grass hay a day while he was stalled-it was just to keep him busy doing something so he did not develop bad habits. | |

| We have and have had so much rain it's not even funny down here. I don't know when these guys are supposed to cut when it never dries up. But I'm not complaining. I've been feeding Scamp and Jazz a flake of alfalfa and a flake of coastal both, kind of extend out that alfalfa a bit... Prices aren't coming down yet, but I sure hope those people doing alfalfa get a really good bumper crop this year! WHEW! I'm sick to death of paying $12 a bale! | |

| The hay guy called and he cut our field today. EEEKKK we are not even ready as we were going to put up new plywood and siding on the barn! He even raised the price to 3 dollars a bale but that is about going rate now and I am sure that it is nice hay as he knows that we are really picky. | |

| We are hoping to cut soon if the bloody rain stops for long enough. We have had at least 10" in the past two weeks. But the hay is looking great. Keep in mind that I'm up here in Canada, but there looks like there will be lots of hay for sale here. | |
