| What do you guys put on your horses to sweat them? I've heard of plastic wrap, garbage bags, the neck sweat, jowl sweats, like ointment stuff (does this stuff work?) I need to sweat Cisco's neck a lot and I've been trying but its not really working. Also, how long do you keep your sweats on ect.? I know I've posted a lot about it, but that thread is gone and I'm actually doing it now.
O ya, and do you use a fleece or wool jowl sweat??
Thanks a bunch! | |

| Everybody does it the same only different. I like to use Neat Neck by Pepi. It will not burn and you can spong it off.. It will work even when the horse is not being worked.. I use neoprine sweats. I like to tie my horse up with sweats for about a half and hour.. Work them then tie them back up for an hour.. What you do not want to happen is for them to get their heads down so air is going in under the sweat.. That does not work. Also, keep a good neck warmer on them at night.. This helps bring that down.. Some also use a rolling pin first to break the fat up before they sweat.. | |

| Little Sip, a neck warmer is a heavy piece that goes around the neck to keep it heated and the fat off of it. Mine go around the neck and velcro. They cover the whole neck. You put them on tight and they do keep the neck down. The good ones are pretty heavy like a blanket. The Jockey brand are pretty good.
Phenom, Mine are really nice and I had a friend who made them. She was killed in Iraq by a road side bomb. When I have to order new ones I will buy the Jockey brand.. They are pretty heavy.
I miss my friend a bunch. She was a retired Police Officer who started her own business making horse wear.. She went to Bagdad to train Iraqi police. She was killed there.. She was a great lady that everybody loved.
As bad as things were there she never complained and always ended her emails with Happy Thoughts. I am using it now on my signature.. Seems when things get me down that little saying goes through my head and I feel better.. It also keeps her close to my heart where she belongs. | |

| OOPS, Little Sip. You need to put them on pretty tight so they do not rub out the mane.. The horse needs to be able to breath (DAH) but you do not want air to get under them.. | |

| I'm sorry to hear about your friend BJ. My friend Kyle was killed the same way, while doing the same thing... he was a mounted police officer in the twin cities, I have his horse now. | |

| Sorry to hear about your losses! Sip, they say the rolling pin thing works... I just never did it long enough with Kid... With Kid, I'd get one of those squirt Gatorade bottles, put 1/4 Listerine and the rest Glycerine, put that on the real bad spots, and it's messy..., then put the trash bag, one tight neck sweat, another neck sweat, and then the full to shoulder neck sweat, and then a jowl wrap on 'em, and then we'd go to work. After that, tied him up in the stall, retightened all the neck sweats, let him stand at the most 2 hours, and then rinse off with warm water. | |
