Help!
Do any of the TX people, or anyone else for that matter, know where I can buy Shapley's Show Touch-Up spray?
I badly need it for this weekend, after being told it's AQHA legal to cover scars at shows. His, not mine Cool

I'd need sorrel or chestnut, not that it matters...

I've checked (online) Tractor Supply, State Line, Charlotte's...ahhhhh!

I know at my local Tractor Supply they have it. You might look in the cattle section, thats where I found it, I know they thought I was weird to want to use it on my horse.

Yeah, I think our Tractor Supply has it, too... but I think I ordered mine from Shapley's... and I had the bugger trying to match it with Kid... he'd gotten these places on the inside of his legs from mounting the dummy - danged near bloodied himself from that - he just hits it real hard...

But I had to get two colors and sort of mix it on my fingers and then sort of blend...

I'd just order it straight from Shapley's and get it real quick...

Thanks everybody. I just went to TSC, and my store only stocks freakin black and white...and I *would* have a chestnut. Gay. So my horse will be the one that gets the gate in showmanship. I'm really upset...we've been working so hard on showmanship, and now I'm sure the judge (even though they technically "don't count off" for blemishes...) will dock us hard. It's about overall appearance, and how the exhibitor prepares the horse, and I'm betting 10ish minor scars won't help. Grrrrrreatttt.

Ive been in your spot before as well. I did a very unconventional thing to cover up a scar before.

I took a Crayola Washable marker and filled in a few spots Shocked . Its harmless to little kids, so I figured it wouldnt hurt my horse. After the class I took a baby wipe and it came right off, with no irritation or breakouts.

This could help in a pinch, but I wouldnt do it all the time.

Hahaha...I might try that Very Happy
Depends how desperate I'm feeling!

As for figuring it couldn't hurt em, I agree. I think our horses are more durable than we give them credit for. My friend's mare once ate an entire plastic baggie of treats-bag and all-and no problems whatsoever. Just pooped it right on out Rolling Eyes

I have used shoe polish before. we were out of shapleys, and all we had was shoe polish, so we did a little on a towel, and i won my SMS class....so it must have worked! we took it off when we were through, never had a problem.

You know, that's not a bad idea... go get you some magic markers... a bag of 'em, 'cuz I figure with that chestnut, if it was as hard as it was to match on Kid, you'll probably have the dickens, too.

Or.... you can go and get a hair dye color that'll hopefully match it... but I'd sure try it some place first that wouldn't show up before you did it on the scar.

Don't worry too much about it, if you can't cover them up. Just have him groomed to the 9's and do a great pattern. Smile I've gone in Showmanship with Clara having a big bald spot in the middle of her face where she scraped herself, and done just fine. I just put some face shine on it and acted like it was supposed to be there! Razz Judges understand that things happen, superficial scars don't matter that much.
