| Today I almost peed myself. We had some major weather here. Naturally I was in the path of a fricken tornader earlier. My mom and some other friends started calling me telling me to get home or to get somewhere sturdy other than my truck. It was just nerve wrecking. I made it to my friends house and then the sirens started blasting, and the hail came down hard.
We were glued to the TV watching the weather reporters and they were saying phrases like "extreme danger" and "life threatning". We wanted to get in the bathroom, but we wanted to watch too.
Everything finally got under control, and it moved I think north east, towards Louisiana. I think it might have even made it to 7Cedars and Tara.
I cant wait until tornader season is over...

| B&B, I was sure thinking of you late yesterday! Rick was glued to the TV, I had two other kids here that weren't mine, and that worried me. Horses were all up under sheds or in the barn. One parent came and got one child... and I called Trent's girlfriend's mom and told her, I'm not letting them get out in this mess to have her home by 11:00, and if it was okay to wait till it blew over. By the time it got to us, though, we just had some hard rain, a lot of lightening, which always scares the beegeebies out of me. I stayed up till about 10:30-10:45, and I couldn't stay awake any longer. Everything's fine, horses are fine, nothing's ripped off the house or barn. Did you get any of that hail, B&B? They were showing on the news golf-sized hail... well, it danged sure looked bigger than a golf ball to me! Jeesh! I hope all is well at your house! | |

| I was at the barn aways before that stuff blew in, and I decided to put everyone up pretty early. It started to look mean outside, so I figured that was my best bet. Glad I did too.
We got some hail that was a little bit bigger than gofball size. I didnt lose any windshields, but I did get some pretty good nicks in my paint. I think some of it was from debris too.
Our barn made out fine, no big problems, that I know of. I just know there were a few horses left out in the pasture during all this, and they made it through. They probably went under a tree or something.
The last time I was in weather like that was when I was breaking my buckskin gelding.
The stuff just came out of nowhere. We were done riding him and had just put him up, when the wind got real still. It was dark out so you couldnt see much. All of a sudden I heard a crack of thunder, HUGE crack, like it was right on top of us. There was green and even orange lightning around us. Then that creepy deep roll, almost like thunder, but it didnt stop. I knew right then and there it was a twister. Out there there arent any sirens, none.
Well the house is about a football field away from the bottom barn where we were. If you wanna see a fat girl run, put her in a tornado. I swear I have never run that fast in my life. I was very motivated by fear and panick. I even passed up my very fit, very well built boyfriend. I noticed that the trees around us were blowing, but they were blowing straight up. That to me means its right there. I busted through that big house yelling for the owner, she was in the tv room and didnt know what was going on. I think I grabbed her and the only words I could get out were, Twister, Storm Shelter, and Outside. We got to the shelter, and stayed for about 10 minutes. I didnt want to get out, even when it passed and left our property. I was a wreck. So was the place. I finally calmed down enough to climb out and look around. The power was out so we used flashlights and headights. The roof to my barn was gone, and so was a wall. My heart sank, I just knew I didnt have any horses left, the worst ran through my mind. I ran down to find that they had all somehow got into one big stall and were hudding in the back. Even a stud and a few geldings were standing that close to each other. I was so relieved I almost fainted. My old black mare greeted me with that nicker, but it was like, "MOM! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN!" We had to move my 9 to the show barn which was damaged, but was the only sturdy barn left. The other horses were loose in pastures, so we did a head count. The only animals we lost were a few chickens, and a little heiffer, and we managed to gain a peacock from a surrounding farm. We lost a fairly large hay barn, it almost looked like it had exploded. That was enough for me. I helped all the animals, surveyed the damage, and cried like a baby.
Does anyone else have any storm stories?
Sorry about the novel, I just hope that this is the extent of our tornado season. I dont know about the rest of the state, but Ive had enough excitement for many moons to come.

| It wasn't that bad where I was at last night. I called my mom and they said they got hail and strong winds and the sirens went off. My dad had just picked me up about 15minutes before it all came. I was at my dads house and it started to pour. We could hear the sirens from Garland and Rowlett but they weren't in Sasche. My little sisters were freaking out. All we got in Sasche was some heavy rain and a bit of thunder for about 30minutes. | |

Aww poor banana girls! I bet they did get a little freaked out when they could hear the sirens. Did they want to go hide? We watched some of the news, and we could see it moving right out to Sachse and Wylie area. What was freaking me out was the wording the chose like, "life threatning" . Im just glad its over for the mean time.

| LOL The banana girls When we heard the sirens I could tell they were from a ways away but the girls were scared. We were all out in the garage because I had to help my dad fix it. It broke and wouldn't go up or down. It had fallen off the track. So we were out there and kinda watching the rain. They were like "Sissy I'm scared is there gonna be a tornado" And then the sirens went off they about jumped out of there skin. Sarah, the original banana girl started shaking and Kylie about started to cry. I kept asking them if they wanted to go get into the bathroom they said yes but when I tried to take them inside they said nevermind they wanted to stay outside. Crazy banana girls. LOL. | |

| When we moved here, the guy next door said he'd seen two tornados come through in the back of our property. I watch for that... I'd just as soon not see it myself, though... GAWD! About the only one that's scared the dickens out of me... was last year, I believe. Storm was coming, Trent had rode earlier that day, and had left his saddle outside, which was just right behind the house. It started sprinkling, I opened the back sliding glass doors and told both boys to go get it. As soon as they grabbed the saddle, blankets, and such, lightening hit on the other side of the fireplace in the back of the house where the boys were, I screamed, went running for my sons - the ligthening went through the roof, and came out in the front of the house, where Rick was in here in my office on the phone and he saw it come out in the front. The guy he was talking to, heard me scream, heard Rick scream, things getting quiet, and he thought I'd killed Rick. I've never heard of lightening "going through" a house, but sure enough, you can see where it came in and went out, because it blacked the eaves - wonder the whole danged house didn't burn down. Fried every single one of the TVs and VCRs that were plugged up, killed my coffee pot, literally blew the cover off the phone box outside. That's twice now that it's hit the house, so needless to say, now nobody goes otuside, everything, and I mean absolutely everything is unplugged. | |

| Here's another one. Was at DFW Airport, and our plane for Denver was delayed. Not to mention I had some kind of bug and kept trotting back and forth to the danged bathroom. And the airport was packed. Well, they had some tornados coming. Mom found out about it, and kept calling me on my cell phone... stay around the bathrooms... yeah, okay, Mom, I don't think that'll be a problem, I'm here anyway. GAWD! And all during this, a man that was sitting beside me had a diabetic attack that was waiting on someone to land from the same plane. That was sure an experience. Finally, we were able to get on the plane, and I told the stewardess I didn't feel good, wasn't anybody in the seats beside me, so I grabbed a blanket and a pillow and I slept the whole danged way. She woke me up when we landed - first time I've ever done that! | |
