| The first mare we rescued did so well and we were able to find a home for her at a charter school's equine program. She couldn't be happier. This was a very sad situation and because of an injury, she will never be 100% sound but still has PLENTY to offer the program she's at. She was such a gentle soul and I'm so glad I could help her. Here are the before and after pictures: BEFORE AFTER Here is the newest horse, a very sad situation... He is a 16 year old ApHC stallion named First of All. VERY well bred and has some champion foals. He is a grandson of Goer and out of a world champion producing sire and dam. He is really amazing, but needs about 300lbs of weight, easy. He also recieved a kick to the testicles during breeding season and has a massive hematoma. He will get surgery just as soon as he is healthy enough to handle it. Poor guy is SUCH a love and is also broke to ride. I think we might just keep this boy. He is sound and kind of stole my heart. Might have a little show career left in him for the future. Contacted the original owners and this boy sold for some big time money about 9 years ago. I hate to say it, but he looks worse in person. | |

| It's hard for me to believe people can have such a great animal then not care for it.. Some humans are so cruel. And, of course just down right stupid. Glad you are there to help some.. | |

| Unfortunately no, TJ. The lucky cases will fine the owners, but that's about it here. The dept. of agriculture is so swamped because people are turning their horses loose in the desert because they can't afford to feed them that most of the neglect calls are put on the back burner. I'm not going to sugar this up for anyone, there are horses that look like these guys and worse on every street corner around here and the ones turned out are looking even worse. I can only afford to rehab one at a time and the expenses with this sweet boy are adding up quickly. We're calling in for donations to get him surgery and the vet is also helping us out as much as they can. It's a sick situation and getting very desperate for the unwanted horses here. There are certain parts of town I can't even drive through because of this. But the reality is that most people here in AZ have lost their homes and their jobs. Our rescues are over capactity and no one can really afford to take on more horses privately. I consider myself blessed to be able to help where I can. I have been doing a lot of consults for other caring people who are taking these guys in too, helping them get on the right path... It's just a sick story for every one of these guys. Injuries have been left untreated, like with my guy, who has had the injury to his testicles since around March of this year. It honestly makes me cry for these poor horses... They've done nothing to deserve this. Like I said earlier, I know times are very hard for everyone, but if anyone can spare ANYTHING, every dollar makes a difference and it will ONLY go towards the veterinary care. We found a specialist who has dealt with this type of untreated problem before. Any donations towards this would help tremendously and be very appreciated. Everything can be sent to: Jolese George PO Box 144 Morristown, AZ 85342 I will be posting what we hear back from the vet, have an appointment hopefully tomorrow. Here are some better pictures of his injury: | |
