Keep in mind, this is his first ride in 2 years. He's been standing in the pasture. He is stiff and out of shape. With his age, I am concerned if he will stay sound for heavy riding. We'll see over the next few weeks I guess.

I was hoping for a slower trot, more of a level head set. Does he respond to setting his head, I saw Racheal asking for it. How is he in the hocks?

He does drop his head and he will go alot slower. I saw him show a few years back and he was awesome. I did this video as soon as she started riding and noone has been on his back in 2 years. We're meeting Janie tomorrow night for a lesson and to let her check him out as far as soundness goes. She knows the horse already and says he is an awesome buy as long as he's not off anywhere.

I'll do some more videos as we get the old guy loosened up over the next couple of weeks.

He was shown for a few years by Tally and Tammy Engler. The people that currently have him only showed him open and 4h. They don't do any pleasure anymore, just gaming. They've had him since '04. I thought they'd had him longer, but I had looked at the wrong date.

She will be a good person to check him over. I too would be concerned about him being so stiff.

If he passes Janie's check, I'll do a vet check. I actually put him on a joint supplement this morning and turned him out and he was moving better today already. If he can withstand it physically, this is a horse that could teach Rachel a ton.

I talked to Tim Engler this morning. His daughter Tally showed Black Bear when she was 9 yrs old. He said he was a great minded horse. He did tell me about the bad tail job. He said Tally did well at 4h and even was Grand Champion in showmanship at the Indiana State Fair. He said they did well in the youth and novice classes at AQHA shows at the time too. Tonight, we see Janie for a lesson with him.

Did he say WHO did the tail job?
