| Brennen has someone interested in Tom, but they want to do a trade plus cash. The horse we would get is a 5 year old paint mare. Here's the link to her ad. Brennen would get the cash and I would get the mare to ride. The price in her ad is more than what we have fidured as her "trade in value". I know the pics aren't very good, but any opinions? Even if we resold her for $1000-$1500 in the summer, we'd be doing fine, price wise. http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-245466 | |

| you are right can't tell anything from the pics and the papers aren't anything I know (doesn't mean much as I don't know that many paints) but that color would sell well here. You could pattern her on barrels get her well broke and make good money on her as a barrel horse here in KS pretty and barrels mean $$. | |

| I agree with Lynn...
Her color will sell if you an get her going in a marketable area...shoot, just take halfway decent pics of her and you might be good to go!!!!

| Wasnt Tara's paint, the western pleasure stallion, out of the Ratchett line? I think so. Lynn is right, its the same way down here. That coat pattern and color along with knowing barrels, would sell like hotcakes down here. MAybe they would send you better pics if you asked. I know I would if I really wanted to sell a horse. Im curious to see her profile. | |

| BuckNBlue - Yes Tara's boy is from the Ratchet line. Denise - 1. The mare is frame overo. = OLWS 2. The pattern would not be what I would call "super desirable". Not that its bad, just uneven of sorts. Her pedigree is pretty blank, but I can certainly do a search for you if you'd like to see what kind of show records her family has. I can't tell her conformation of course, but I agree with the others. If you feel you could make a profit off her, I say go for it! | |

| Can't really see her in those shots.. I like her pattern from what I can see.. Her pedigree is nothing. But, that doesn't mean she is not a nice horse. Not everyone takes their horses out and promotes them. And, there are many opinions on what a nice pattern is.. She does look like she needs to be fed.. Course then there is that trade thing that keeps the numbers up and the money down.. | |

| So every frame overo mare has or is carrying the lethal white? Is that the same for geldings? I guess in a gelding it wouldnt matter huh? Im pretty sure my gelding is a frame, but Im not a paint person.
Where I am, I RARELY hear of a lethal white foal. There are tons of overos around here, enough that it would make you think you would hear of it more.

| I asked for more pics, but they'll be of her in her winter woolies and her owner just got eye surgery done, so it might be a few days. Tom is Brennen's horse, so the money from the sale goes to him, not me. And I think if the mare turns out to be decent, we could make a few bucks on her. I'd have a broke horse to put more miles on, or Brennen could even try her out as a 4-H horse. Get her patterned on barrels and poles and take her to some open shows to start with and I think we could do well on her. I wouldn't be planning on breeding her, so the OLWS wouldn't matter much to me, but might to a future buyer. And with Caffiene dying, Brennen is feeling pretty low. A new horse to work on that he can just jump on and ride might be good for him. | |

| No, he's a 9 year old gelding, but he has been a kids horse for so long that he really doesn't feel like working and gets resentful when asked to do things he doesn't like to. This woman wants to trail ride and rope with him. He likes both of those so he should be fine for her. | |

| I like the cash in hand! hee hee! Can you get better pic's of her to help you make up your mind. Me Id rather have a mare, If something causes it to become unsound it still has some value. | |

| They are going to meet us when we go to our next lesson. I'll put Tom in the trailer and they will bring their mare up. I'll be there anyhow and one more horse in the trailer isn't going to bother me and it'll cut their trip by 1 1/2 hours. We can try her out and see if we like her in a nice big, warm indoor arena. We just need to wait for decent weather because I don't like to haul horses in this cold. | |

| Merikle.. Down here they do not want to see more then 15% white.. A 50/50 would not be desirable. That is not my opinion.. Just the paint people. There is no way to tell about the OLWS unless you test for it. Then there is only 25% that you will get it if you cross + to +.. I would never take the chance on it.. May very well be different in your area. When it comes down to it. It really is about the whole picture.. I personally prefer the Toby.. But, they do not place in the show pen for halter.. You have to keep in mind just how many horses you can ride.. The truth is that in reality it is about two. Other wise you just have a bunch of horse.. | |

| funny thing, what is described as "ideal" doesn't make a difference. It's what people like. Personally I would never want a paint with that much white. Mine have JUST enough for me, which is hardly any. Shelby only qualifies with face white and Copper has a gaskin spot, belly spot, and high back leg white. I just don't care for all that white, kinda takes away from the horse in my opinion. But I have seen some with more white that were just beautifully patterned, just not what I personally like or what places down here. And I don't think lethal white is very hush hush either anymore. It's just one of those things like HYPP, it's there. I don't think people are really trying to breed for that like they have the N/H horses. The results can never be good It's just unfortunate this stuff comes about, but it's there. It's certainly not hush hush like berrr babies though, and that kind of thing | |
