Sold 2 horses today

We sold Wade's big red roan gelding, Bo, and Brennen's big buckskin gelding Tye.
We've had Tye since the day he was born, he's Vamp's first colt. I'm really glad he went to a great home, but I'll really miss the big suck. He was just too much horse for Brennen and I couldn't get over my fear of him after we got into a wreck when the bear scared him. The couple that bought him are going to train him and use him for checking/treating cows and possibly team rope on him if he works out well.
The way the market is, I think we got good prices for them. Now I just need to get rid of 3 of the mares and 4 of the colts.

Thanks. We're down to 20 now. We had 27 here last winter, plus we have had 5 foals this year, so I think I'm doing pretty good as far as reducing my numbers go. I'd like to have 12-14 max this winter. And my friend who was boarding her horse here moved to Alberta to do rig lighting, so her horse is gone now too.

For me it's a relief to get those numbers down. We have 5 here now, one at the trainers and one coming home in a few weeks. It takes like an half an hour to clean the barn. That is down from two hours. Feels so good..

My husband keeps asking what I need from the feed store.. We were going threw a ton of oats a month. Not to mention all the hay that is running 300.00 ton now. I have also found some ways to cut back cost without having an impact on the health of the horses. I turned off every other light in the stalls. This alone saves us 40.00 a month on the light bill. I use a 2lb scoop on the oats now twice a day instead of the 3lb scoop I was using.

I still have a few to let go. Two foals coming next year. I am a tack horder and should go through the blankets, sheets, sleazy's, halters/show halters, wraps and all the other stuff I have that I do not use and sell it. I even have stuff I bought and never used.

I am glad not to have mine at a stable as that was expensive between board, hay, gas and time. Plus it is better for them out in pasture. I only pay $75 for pasture rent a month and hay only cost me $780 which will last me till May. I don't think that is too bad.

I have to say I miss cleaning stalls and the barn smell. Oh yeah and keeping dry during the long winter months.
