| I was just bored today and wanted to have an easy workout with Larry, so we went bareback for the first time. He's awesome! Very patient with my wobbly but. LOL. It was a blast, I'm actually learning some trick riding moves on him just for fun. First will be a running mount... Should prove to be interesting. Sorry there are no action shots of my trying to shimmy up the side of him lol. (forgot that one earlier, sorry!)

| You have the same headstall as me Except mine is hunter green. I like those bits for speed event horses. Really puts some collection and rate on them at high speeds where they might not listen to something else. Riding bareback is great for balance. I try to do it whenever I can, but my horses have such high withers that it can hurt if you aren't paying attention. Does Larry have amber colored eyes, or is it just the way the pics look? | |

| I actually really love that set, it just doesn't match any of my other tack so I use it at home to play around in because it makes changing bits SUPER easy! I got two sets of em when our local stateline tack was going out of business, for like 99 cents per piece (I got reins and breast collars too!)
His eyes are actually that amber color, I think it's pretty neat. Looks really nice when the sun hits his face. He's just special in all kinds of way lol.
I am just SO THRILLED with this horse, he has turned out to be absolutely EVERYTHING that I wanted. He's a little bit older, but he's still got some years in him, so OH WELL. lol. | |

| Sandy, Brennen's buckskin mare has amber eyes too. I love them. Makes a horse that little bit more unique. Larry was a rope horse before, wasn't he? How old is he? | |

| Larry is still a rope horse, I'm learning off of him actually. He is 15, he has a few bumps and bruises and has had a rough life, but I do everything I can for him to make his life the best it can be. He won all of his previous owners a lot of money and more saddles than they could remember. I got him super cheap because it was one of those deals where I was at the right place at the right time. Got him for $1,000.00 and my dad is installing two new trannys in their two chevy trucks (they had already bought the trannys, he just had to install them.) I otherwise, would not have been able to afford him. Him being a rope horse (we're taking a break from that over summer) was kind of where we had a problem w/ the barrels. He's left leaded all the time and his super quick bursts of speed were something I had to get used too, but I think we've got each other pretty figured out now They rode him real heavy on the bit, he actually has scar tissue from it, poor guy. So I put him in a hackamore for awhile and then I put the bit you see in the above pictures in his mouth, which he is responding AWESOME too. I'm just wondering though, if I will be able to show AQHA with this bit for barrels, poles, and stake race? It has a snaffle mouth piece. Not sure how this will work??? Does the one hand rule on rein apply to barrel racing too? Or can you switch hands, use two, etc? Just curious about that... | |

| You can use two hands for contesting and I don't think there should be a problem with your bit at all. You don't have as many rules for contesting as for pleasure. Most big gamers ride 2 handed especially for poles.

| the pics look awesome! I love riding bareback...I actually normally ride bareback. lol and then when you practice, and go to an open show with a $5 bill race... and you take home all the money! lol atleast thats what I do! and yep denibun is right... I think most of the time you see them riding one handed its because the other hand is tightly gripping the horn | |

| The speed at which some of those horses run, I'd be riding no handed cuz both hands would be tightly gripping the horn. | |

| Denise, I am picturing that and laughing. For AQHA shows, they are all right. That bit is allowed. You can ride one handed and change hands, or two handed. | |
