| So - its getting to be that time...my poor computer is on its last little leg... I want a laptop - but have no clue what I need! I use a Sony Vaio now - from 2002 I've had to repair the power cord 10+ times and it heats to unsafe levels (burns your legs) and sounds like a plane is taking off So - any suggestions or comps to steer clear of?!?!?!? It won't be purchased for a while (at the earliest 2 months, latest December) | |

| I've owned Sony and Dell computers in the past, this year I stepped out of the box a little and bought an HP. I don't think I will EVER buy another brand again. For the price, the technology is great and the customer service beats dell, hands down. I think Dell is actually a little over rated, and keep in mind that I've owned a handful of them. Specifically, I bough an HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop, and I was completely in love with it. Very high quality and sturdy too. But, that's just me | |

| HP is the only computer that I own. We have three now. I have the large lap top I had built and it's AWESOME.. Then we have two desk tops we use. My husband has his own.. We had several of them over the years.. The compact was the worst one we ever bought. It lasted less then six months. All of our stuff ih HP.. Printers, monitors and fax machine.. I do have the logi tech wireless key board and mouse. I love those too.. | |

| Honestly... I havent found a Dell that I acctually really liked, so yea I do agree with that.
I like Vaio. They are a little bit more expensive in some cases, but they always just stood out at me.

| I have a Gateway that I really like. Not even sure what our other one is, cause my brother built it for us. I have a Lexmark printer right now, but want an HP cause mine drinks ink. Anybody have any suggestions as to printers for pictures? | |

| As far as printers for pictures go reigningfan, I reccomend going with a cannon printer, but JUST for the pictures. They specialize in that and they work great.
As far as a normal printer goes, I got a free one with my lap top from HP and it's the best printer I've ever had! And it's one of their cheapest models! I was super impressed all around.
With the computers, if you want just a normal good computer to get the job done, I'd go with HP. If you want a super state of the art computer that is really advanced, go with Alien Ware, they are a leading force in top notch electronics.

| My husband went nuts and special-ordered an Alien 8 yrs ago. $6,000.00. I thought I would die!!!! We're still paying for it, and will be for a long time. It's real twitchy.... It came up with a glitch over a year ago.... We haven't used it since. | |

| Ragdoll, your right about your husband going nuts.. I have had cannon printers as well and they do not work any better then HP.. Yes and a variety of other brands. That is why I only buy HP products. I have also used those at work.. Still say the HP is a better product for what you get. And, no they are not all cheap. I paid over 2000.00 for my lap top. Need to decide what you are going to do with your computer then go from there. Wait for a sale on them... | |
