I'll try and get some pics loaded today some time...Trent, Rick, our farrier, and his son were the team. Rick rode his brother's paly, who isn't afraid of anything, but has a real big motor; Trent rode Fred.
Me, mom and Julie (little sis) had been working on Amber's prom dress danged near all day - GAWD, TripleJ, this is unreal. Won't even get into that mess...
Mom, Dad, little sis and family came - mom and dad really enjoyed it. Fred will do anything out trail riding, cross or go through anything, but you put him in an arena, and he sees a tarp or a bridge with barrels - forget it! Farrier's son was riding a breeding stock colt that we'd given him, that he'd trained himself, out of my prize paint mare and Kid - and I can tell you this, of all the 4 horses, he did the best - his speed was fantastic, he went over and through everything - showed no hesitation whatsoever. Devon is only in 8th grade, and I was so proud of him and Twister.
Of course, the classic branding the cow was hilarious - right up Trent's alley - Trent ran up, dogged the steer, BIG steer, but no horns, and Devon got confused which way he was supposed to push him over, so the steer was literally on top of Trent, finally Devon pushed him over - Trent's shirt was tore to all get out, but he had a blast!
Tell you a couple of funnies. There was one woman, that I swear, I thought she was going to black her eyes - you know what I mean. Well, on the branding steer thing, the guy had a hold of the steer, she got up under the steer, grabbed ahold of its off leg, kind of stood up a bit, and literally just fell on the steer - was the funniest thing - what a trooper!
Then this one real tall, long-legged narrow arsed fellow was just a riding the snot out of his horse, and we all looked up, and all of a sudden, he was on the neck of the horse, literally, right in front of the saddle, horse is still going, he's still got ahold of the reins, never bobbles for oh, 4-5 seconds, finally slows the horse down enough to lift up a leg and get back in the saddle - great trick riding! HA!
We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
